New year, more MP mods
I figured this should be brought up again, since it's a new year.
The problem is the same as before. MP is just too crowded for the few amount of MP mods that we have. We have over 1 million users here, and yet we have 4 (I think) MP mods to regulate all of that. Most of the time, a mod isn't even present. I'm well aware that you're just going to say "But no one ever IMs us to get us in there" but in all reality, how realistic is this? A mod should be there to moderate the chat. Not come in when needed, ban/kick, and then leave. I'm also well aware that you're going to say you just don't have anyone you can trust. But regardless, this is something that needs to happen. There are just too many blatant idiots in there constantly spamming or flaming. It just ruins the chat and adds further to MPs already lacking reputation. In short: More mods. Soon.

Re: New year, more MP mods
In my experience asking for more mods won't get you anywhere, even if more mods are needed badly.
Oh and as for your million users statistic: that's sort of misleading. According to the forum index, there are 84,952 active members. I'm not sure what constitutes being "active" but I'm sure that by any standards that the rest of the users are not active at all. And on top of that, I believe the average amount of players in FFR period during the day is about 1000. There are even far less than that in the MP lobby (the place which is supposed need of mods). In the end though, I'm all for adding new mods. Splitting power into more hands is always a good thing when everything is logged and admins can look at what mods have done to ensure that no abuse has taken place.

Re: New year, more MP mods
There's usually nothing horrible, just a few retards gaying it up for everybody else. I was going to report a couple people once but then I realized I was too lazy to open up AIM. Plus they could've only been banned on a technicality and I more wanted them banned for being retarded.

Re: New year, more MP mods
Thats probobly because no one has your MSN or AIM or whatever you have.
The only person most people can get a hold of in a MP situation is Scottish because he has his AIM and MSN on his profile. Maybe all the MOD's should do this.

Re: New year, more MP mods
What dore said is true. In most cases, some person will spam moderately [whether it be a greeting (e.g. "Hi guyz" numerous times) or simply inane chatter]. This really isn't enough to merit a kick, but a warn would be an effective way to get them to halt. However, often there is no mod around, and even though people attempt to stop the violator, they haven't the authority, and so the troublemaker usually continues with his/her mischief. In my opinion, in cases like these, the reason the current mods are not alerted is that the bystander likely feels that it really isn't worth the effort to drag a mod over to deal with the situation (then again, it is their job).
And...every now and then, there will be someone who spams the chat over and over again. This is the person that warrants a kick or ban, depending on the severity of the action. Only when the problem becomes too out of hand is a mod brought to the chat. There is also another common situation, which is two or more idiots trading insults [of the uncivilized/moronic type (e.g. blatant profanity, racial slurs, religious derrogation, etc.)]. Again, most people tolerate it, but it really ruins the atmosphere of MP chat. Based on my MP experience, the second scenario occurs less often the first and third described, but it would be nice to have someone there to deal with anything undesirable that happens in chat, instead of just the large problems. Either way, the chat room should be kept clean at all times (practically, of course). Nonetheless, it's still the responsibility of the chat users to communicate with the mods, and that's where half of the problem lies. It's going to require action from both sides to provide for proper handling. Just my 0.02, etc. P.S. - Tasselfoot has AIM. His s/n is Tasselfoot. It's stated clearly in the AIM info in his profile. Re: New year, more MP mods
So basically, you need more MP mods, along with terms that lead to warnings/banning?

no, i'm not missing YOUR point at all.
you can tell us we need more mods until you're blue in the face... but the fact remains that we'll add mods when we feel there are people worthy to mod.

meaning i couldn't qualify for modship, if i was lucky. I was hoping to be one. Since i was heartbroken by the girl I liked, i figured i had no chance for happiness, and no life, so i could help out people to make up for my mistakes. |

/cut /cut. Looking at how you post in the forums, I don't have much hope for how you talk in the chat. Also, listen to what Tass has said, they don't need any new moderators for anywhere, everywhere is fine. Also, don't try to gain sympathy like that, it won't help you be modded. Show the proper skills / general personality traits and, given time, you may be considered for modding by the staff. |

More Chat Mods...
You could have an army of them, and you people would still ask for more. The chat room will never be perfect. Besides, who wants to spend 15 hours a day in chat waiting for spammers to ban?

Re: New year, more MP mods
They're not just going to give it to you like that. You have to earn it by having respect and contribution to the site, and eventually be elected by other mods. Raising your hand isn't going to give you very much other than people having bad first impressions of you. Good job.

Sorry. It's because I don't go in there as often.
Yeah. I'm the one always IM'ing you about fags in there. ;] Anyway, I've been in MP lately, and it isn't as bad as it used to be. |
