How are songs unlocked?

I searched and couldn't find anything on this. How are songs in the Secret section unlocked? I'm not asking how I can unlock them, just curious as to how the system works.

You unlock them by earning credits

So when you lose credits by purchasing or losing challenges do the songs go away?

Yes, you have to keep the credits to unlock them in secret.
To purchase them you spend the credits therefore you wouldn't have the amount you needed to get that certain song you just unlocked in secret.

13. Force Of Light (750)
14. End Night (1,000)
15. FFR Evolution (1,500)
16. Noir Remixed (2,000)
17. MAX Forever (2,006)
18. Gradeus (2,500)
19. Hyper Pressure (3,000)
20. Strangeprogram (5,000)
21. Pants (7,500)
22. Lawn Wake IV (10,000)
23. Kick Your A (15,000)
24. Rottel-da-station (20,000)

Basically, when you reach that number of credits you'll be able to play that song in secret, but you have to have those credits on hand. Spending them will earn you purchased songs, but reduce some of your secret ones until you reach that credit number again.

Yeah, it's funny. When it first came out I was playing as much as possible to get 2006 credits. Now I am trying to get 20,000. As of now I have 13,5**.
