My CD won't work
I finally found a CD I've looking for for a while and I tried putting it in my computer so I could rip its content on my computer to save me from losing ALL the music on it.
The thing is, it won't read on my computer and it's not even scratched badly. There is some slight and I mean slight chipping on the very outside of the CD. Is that enough to make it unreadable? So what I guess I'm asking is, how can I remedy this situation?

Chipping? Probably enough. Scratches? probably not. You can buy this stuff that you wipe on your cd, and it fills holes. It worked for me. I got it at like FYE.

Re: My CD won't work
So a chip on the outside of the cd is seriously enough?
That's extremely dumb =(.

Re: My CD won't work
Use nose grease for the scratches.

Re: My CD won't work
It probably was exposed to heat, which will ruin CD's without any physical damage.

You didn't set a huge stack of magnets on it or put it in your microwave did you?
I wouldn't think a small chip would be enough to stop it from working. Does it work in your discman or whatever you have? |

Re: My CD won't work
small ships on the outside wont make it stop working.. if it was on the inside it would definitly stop working because that is where the index of files is burned.. Heat damage is the number one cause of CD failures... and the bad thing about it is that it is irrepairable and that it is physically not able to be seen

Also, I wouldn't bother putting everything onto a CD. If you're putting it all on a CD you really don't have that much music (700 MB or less), so just get a Gmail account, put it into a .rar, and put it on your Gmail account.

Re: My CD won't work
Try putting the CD in another computer. If it works elsewhere, your comp is the problem. If it doesn't work elsewhere, it's probably boned.

So now I'm on Twitter @NoahWright. And I write the blog for their website. Plus I do cool programming in-house that you'll never see. =O |
