The official Track and Field thread 06.
We just had our first practice. There's only a handful of people who aren't out of shape and wanting to die. You guys?

We've been practicing since march, but Track goes all year long, so I'm in pretty decent shape. I'm currently a sophmore, but I run the 100m dash, the 200m dash, 4x1, 110 HH, and 400 Int Hurdles. I'm looking at like a 12.2 for the 100 currently.

Damn, we had a senior last year who ran a 48.8, he was insane. You swim a lot though, so I'm not suprised you have the pace, endurance and speed.

4 x TPS's 100 < Emccky's 400
anyway, I stopped doing track, but I play ultimate frisbee currently (since I got cut from Tennis for failing) First few tennis practices were incredibly hard, but they got me in shape. Frisbee is much harder than it seems though.

Re: The official Track and Field thread 06.
i've been in track for about 4 weeks and i'm a freshman doing the 100m in 11.98 (8th grade time, don't know yet about 9th) and 200m 27.7 (don't know that time for 9th either.) I'm guessing i will make varsity my freshman year when i'm only .1 of a second from it in both my events.

I can't see a sub 12 100 time converting to a High 27 time unless your endurance blows hardcore. Something isn't right their. If you aren't bull****ting(that time in 8th grade is like a AAA on Gigadelic blind) then you are insane my friend.
I believe it's 4xTps's time is > Emccky's 400, not less than. |

rofl I was a distance runner in high school and signed up for the 200 once (for ****s and giggles) and ran 27.30 from a flat start. Which is pretty ****ty by in its own right... a 27.7 does not match up with an 11.9

Re: The official Track and Field thread 06.
yes it does dude. I was a 100m and 70m sprinter in 8th grade. i did the 200m twice. i have no endurance but i have a heck of a lot of speed and track is my life.
just to let u know how bad my endurance is i don't remember an exact time but it was a 63 second 400m. Absolutely terrible. I swear to ya though i'm not lying. Last edited by dawg4321; 04-10-2006 at 05:16 PM.. |

Re: The official Track and Field thread 06.
I really suck at hurdles and my long jump is ****. It doesn't really help that every meet is really cold and windy. My 100 went down a lot from last year, like .5 seconds x_x Yeah, I was much better last year.

Ran a mile under 6 minutes. Slow? Going to start running more XD I'll sub 5 in a few weeks.

Re: The official Track and Field thread 06.
I ran a 5:18 in gym this year, never run more than 400 though. I fooled around and had a 2:30 800, not great, but I'm not a mid-distance.
Dawg, gives us some proof. I'm sure you can either scan some results, take a pic of them, link us to the page that covers the area of track you run for some legit results. There is no way any of those times match up. |

He's a freshman that ran a 11.8 100 in his 8th grade year, but a 28 200.

Re: The official Track and Field thread 06.
If I had kept in shape since football I could of been doing some field events like shot put or discus (sp?) I'm not the greatest sprint/endurance runner, but I could be. Planning on doing it next year.

Re: The official Track and Field thread 06.
I'm doing tennis this year because the track coach scares the **** out of me. Hah. My best mile is still a 5:27. Terrible. I might even be able to sub 5 by now.
Ultimate Frisbee is awesome. That's all we did at track practices in junior high. |
