24 (there will be spoilers, duh)
*BE FOREWARNED: This thread will be conducted under the assumption that readers and repliers have watched seasons 1, 2, 3, and 4 of 24. If you haven't watched this show, press back on your browser and get all 4 DVD sets--trust me.*
The existing 24 threads are obselete and 24 is still my reason to live. I'm writing all this at 4am. I'm dead tired but for some reason my body doesn't want to sleep, so I have no idea how this will read in the morning. Jack Bauer is my God, by the way. Anyway, I was disappointed with Season 4, to be honest. Season 3 was the most polished season, with the best technical execution. Season 1, being the first experience I had with 24, was the most capturing, though. It seemed to me as if Season 4 followed a very predictable formula for every episode. The show made bigger and more obvious efforts surprise viewers at the at last 5 minutes of each show. The season lost a lot of the fluency it once had. The season was far too predictable. The other seasons were better in hiding new plot twists, whereas Season 4 didn't leave much other room for imagining possible scenarios, so my predictions were too accurate to arouse shock. The biggest flaw in Season 4 was its incapability to sadden me. There were very few tragedies in the season that I actually cared about. The ONLY unfortunate turns of events happened to be insignificant. Hell, I was happy when Erin Driscoll's daughter committed suicide. With each mini-disaster, I knew everything was going to turn out fine. That one nuclear plant meltdown was the only devestating event, and the importance of that meltdown was minimized. The end of Season 4 was a disgrace. It seemed like the writers didn't leave enough room for de-escalation (though there wasn't much to de-escalate from in the first place). The conclusion to every storyline seemed abrubt and shallow. I don't blame the directing; I blame the writing. It was the storyline that wasn't conducive to the style of 24. Either way, Jack Bauer IS God. Speaking of, it seemed like Jack was almost too much smarter than everyone else in the episode. It was like the writers subtracted 30 IQ from everyone but David Palmer, Tony, and Jack. Ok, enough about my Season 4 bashing. I still enjoyed watching it, regardless of its failure to live up to my expectations. The purpose of this thread is to talk about 24. To kick things off I guess I'll make some sort of poll. |

I was blown away tonight. It was just an impressive beginning.
I like how they replaced uncapable child that can't handle a cougar and has a run in with mountain men with one that is semi-competent but has a terribly annoying mom. Mal

i'm really not liking that they killed off palmer and Michelle... true, both of them had very consistent personalities, but then again, who, in the show doesn't.
if you watch the characters all closely, its pretty funny - they all have thier own quirk. For example, Palmer has his little lip snarl thing, Tony has his, "yah" and his mouth remainng agape when he's done talking, etc. By the way.... has anyone heard any rumors of them bringing Kim and/or Chase back into it? anyway, i voted season 2 (i think it drew me in the most) , though i really liked all of them (i'd rank them 2,3,1,,,,4). I'm not a huge fan of a lot of the newer characters - Chloe, Edgar, etc, and i DONT SEE WHY EVERYONE LIKES CHLOE so much, lol. |

I read rumors saying that Kim would be brought back via psychiatrist and how she can't deal with a dead father, etc....I hope it's true.
