Sharing Steam Accounts
I know you're not supposed to, but let's say I wanted to play with/against say, my roommate or Dad or somebody who I really don't want to force into buying another copy of CS. Do you know what will happen if we both get on the game at the same time? How far would we have to go for Valve to get pissed at me and take away my account? I really just want to know if I can start up a local game and have my roommate join without losing my account. I figured at least one of you would know.

What he said.
What you can do, is get a freinds login and password, if they'll give it to you, and use that. CS without the entry price. But your freind woouldn't be able to play at the same time as your roomate/dad, so you have to clear it by him, or get constantly yelled at. |

RE: Sharing Steam Accounts
I used to do this. I would use a friends name at my house while he would be on his name at his house. We never had problems getting on, but we couldn't play against each other. This was way before Source ever came out so I don't know if it'll still work or not.

RE: Sharing Steam Accounts
But it's not like trying this will invalidate my account and waste 50some dollars, right? If not, I'd like to at least try, but I figured I'd ask you guys first, since you're always so knowledgeable.

it won't invalidate your account. You just won't be able to do it.

RE: Sharing Steam Accounts
I've been in a CS:S game and every once in a while a message will appear saying, "*username* has disconnected (Account is in use at another location)". So you can't use the account in two places.
