So, I went to a concert Wednesday
A Mudvayne concert to be exact. I never knew how fun a rock concert could be. There were only two bands, since two of them bailed (of which I can only remember the name of one, Down in Flames, which got quite a few people angry since that was the primary reason they even went), and so only Shadows Fall and Mudvayne were there. I thought it was good, since it was my first concert to go to ever, and I didn't really try and conserve any energy.
Shadows Fall was pretty cool, and since I hadn't even heard of them, listening to them was an experience in itself. And then we had a 10-20 minute intermission or so till Mudvayne came out. And when they did come out it was incredible. I had never expended so much energy in an hour and thirty minutes, ever. And considering the air consisted of mainly smoke and sweat, I had never appreciated fresh air more in my life. Or water. I got home and drank four glasses in about a minute. Now I can see why my brother loves concerts so much.

RE: So, I went to a concert Wednesday
I saw Mudvayne at Summer Sanitarium 2 years back... they were 1st or 2nd in a 5 band lineup, ending in Metallica.
Be glad there was only a 15 minutes switch between bands. I've had an hour wait before at concerts. Also, I found Mudvayne to be WAY too loud/screaming for me. Another thing... are you sure the band wasn't called just "In Flames"? If so, they are a speed metal band that is crazy as hell in concert. I saw them in a concert with Iced Earth. They were crazy insane. I could imagine that people would be pissed. They have a big following. Then again, if it isn't In Flames, then ignore what I said.

RE: So, I went to a concert Wednesday
It might have been just In Flames, I wasn't paying attention. Now I feel kinda cheated that they didn't come. I think they might have felt too big for our little town in Texas. Oh well.
Anyways, my brother went to Summer Sanitarium also. Yeah, he was telling me that what I went to was nothing compared to Summer Sanitarium. I'm hoping he'll take me to see Metallica next time they're in Texas.

RE: So, I went to a concert Wednesday
I saw Mudvayne back in may, I believe, in this really small venue in San Francisco. It was awesome, and I loved how much better it was in a really small venue than it is in a big venue, like when I went to Ozzfest a couple weeks ago.
I am a big fan of In Flames, and if I went to see them and they didnt play, id be pretty pissed, so I can see exactly why people got mad. They played at Ozzfest, too, as well as Mudvayne and Shadows Fall (I believe that the bands that are playing Ozzfest this year also are doing their own little mini gigs with other Ozzfest bands on days that Ozzfest isnt going on), and even though I saw In Flames, I was mad they only played 4 songs. Just imagine going to a concert for a band that you really wanted to see, and having them cancel out, it would suck. |

RE: So, I went to a concert Wednesday
you gotta get to a christian rock concert if you want clean air, its not much different besides that
you have the punk lookalike whic replaces the actual punk people, you have the mosh, which gets just as out of control. the only truly distrubing thing is when you've been in the pit for 5 hours and you come out to sit down, you find your dad jumping like a panzy behind everyone else.... Li[fe]st is always a good show and always has good crowds. I almost got to oz fest two years ago but didn't get tickets in time. |

But yea concerts are a great experience. I try to go to everyone that I can, as long as I like the band. Shadows Fall and In Flames are two of my favorite bands, great stuff. |

Panda, that HAS to be an oxymoron... cause I've been to a few metal concerts (that show with Iced Earth & Jagpenzer... also Maiden with Dio and someone else... etc), and In Flames was the loudest, most non-melodic music I've ever heard.

There was a The Used concert yesterday in DFW. There's also going to be a MSI concert later this week.
If Shadows Fall played The Light That Blinds at that concert, Cypher, you got lucky. Mudvayne is pretty good. Above all I like Happy and Mercy/Severity. |

Concerts are great... if the band is really good, it's a spiritual experience.

RE: Re: RE: Re: RE: So, I went to a concert Wednesday
Shadows Fall is a good band. They came to my town a few weeks ago as an Ozzfest offdate, but i wasn't allowed to go cause it was at a bar. And I believe Mudvayne is coming to our X-fest, a yearly event held in our town. And In Flames would have been amazing live.
Speaking of concerts, Torlock and I are going to see Dream Theater and Megadeth, among others, at our Civic Center. Other bands playing include the Dillenger Escape Plan, Nevermore, and Symphony X, plus about 4 others. Should be a hell of a show. |

I sometimes find the anticipation for a concert is sometimes more fun than the actual show for me. But the last show I saw was Rhapsody and Manowar and that was quite good.

3 days Sam. 3 days.
Don't forget, you're coming to X-Fest too. Raquel's coming with us as well. She wanted to get out of going to a wedding.

Please excuse the bump.
Well, MSI is coming probably the closest they'll ever be to me on the 28th. I'm gonna see if I can't somehow convince my parents to let me go with a friend. I doubt it though since they'd probably want my brother to go, and my brother hates MSI. Anyways, to whoever asked, I live in the Midland/Odessa area. I'm going to have to check out In Flames now and hope they come back sometime soon.

So did I. And got a signed Octavarium. And James Labrie pointed at me twice. Yep. Happiest hour and a half of my life.
