Re: Official Tournament Round 3 Song Discussion
D3's song is kicking my ass so much, but half of it is having to revert to the fucking normal engine after using the V^3 for a little over a week.

Re: Official Tournament Round 3 Song Discussion
Weapon feels too simple for a D6 round 3 (comparing to Shotgun Surgery from last official here), and I claim I got it sightread because all 23 of my goods were from lag HOLLA!
Edit: On-site legacy run and AAA'd immediately... at least I have a back-up engine to work with now. Last edited by smartdude1212; 02-6-2013 at 12:19 AM.. |

Well, my keyboard's been giving me overhits all of a sudden so I ended up with an interesting score of 0-0-0-4~
Amazing chart btw.

Re: Official Tournament Round 3 Song Discussion
The songs are fixed but sync still needs tweaking. Hang tight.
Edit: Seems to still be an issue with UC cutting off.

Re: Official Tournament Round 3 Song Discussion
Ok UC shouldn't be cutting off anymore but the sync issues are still there in files, it's being worked on.

Re: Official Tournament Round 3 Song Discussion
Even if it has a sync issue I am just gonna say
Aj's rendition of Undiscovered Colors finally did that song justice. Amazing chart Aj. I was worried it was going to be hell, but man oh man am I eating my words. |

Oh my god. AJ, that file is amazing. It plays so smoothly, but its also a great challenge. the sync of the notes is so natural. Granted, right now the song is two frames late (had to use offset -2 when my norm is 0) but man, that was a blast to play. TBH i did like Jae's version of the file, but it wasn't a file that was serious for ranking imo. This version, though, is. not overdone, not understepped. Perfect

Re: Official Tournament Round 3 Song Discussion
Weapon has a little too much 1-hand anchor stuff for me to enjoy it on FFR, but I can't deny it's a well-made file. Just not my kind of thing.
UC is really cool.

Re: Official Tournament Round 3 Song Discussion
So my impressions!
Pembroke Welsh Corgi: Cute name, cute song. The speedup in the middle of the song was a pretty clever way of trying to illustrate a higher energy in a file that's deliberately understepped. Music sounds like it'd fit perfectly within the Pop'n Music series. And again, this song has the potential to be a harder file as well (especially that middle section of the song). ice valley "beyond the searoad": This is my first collab with Silvuh, and if I recall, I think the first collab Silvuh ever made on FFR. This file is actually toned down very slightly from the original chart. I would've preferred the ending to be a bit harder, and looking at the current performances of D2 players, I don't think they would've had a problem either! Please enjoy this frosty cold song. If we made this file a few months earlier, I would've placed it in the 12 Days of FFRmas event. It just fits. Jazzman - Super Mario Bros: Funky and jazzy! I really liked the steps here. The intro Mario jingle that everyone is familiar with is very satisfying to hit because those parts have been stepped as hands. BAM! Hit it smack on like that. Unlike some other divisions this round, this song is certainly a step up from D3's previous song. Slam the Door (Rogue Remix): I like this song. The steps were well-done as well and once the jacks arrive halfway through, the song suddenly becomes quite satisfying to hit. I think it just has a good beat. Is the file a noticeable step up from the previous round? No, not really. Nice work, CBR. Undiscovered Colors: The file many people have been waiting for. I even heard Wayward Vagabond wants to make yet another version of this. I personally think this song is better off being listened to rather than being played, but despite that, I think it has been stepped in the best way possible. It flows relatively well, and I don't think it's as jarring as AJ might have thought. I think it's sorta like The Bird's Poisoned Bathwater's little sister...blippy and bursty but a lot more playable. Opinion: however well UC is stepped, I think it's overrated by many others. Best file that can be made for this song? Quite possibly so. Best file of the year already, or even best file so far this tournament? I disagree entirely. Weapon: Stepmania players may be familiar with this one. This is a long song, but it has some pretty catchy melodies that make up for its length. The file is jacky all around, and the middle part is probably the hairiest section. The file is really well-stepped though. In fact, I think I could say the same for pretty much every file this round. I'm waiting for Kommisar to step something other than chiptune and 8bit music, ever since the days of songs like "Dimensions of a Square". |
