Somewhere in my math I keep butchering this problem, I know it's really easy but my numbers aren't matching up.
1. y = 8 - x 2. y = sqrt(36 - x^2) I need to graph by hand (which I did using a T-chart) and then solve for intersections algebraically. I figured I could use the substitution method with #1: y = 8 - x y + x = 8 x = 8 + y and substitute that value into #2: y = sqrt(36 - [8 + y]^2) after this my numbers don't add up. My math could be wrong before or after this point and I have no idea... Help? |
