"Best Job In The World"...
Anyone who has recently checked the news on Yahoo should know this by now. Apparently, an Australian state is internationally performing a job search for a person to live on an island. And all you have to do is fulfill three requirements; be a good swimmer, have good communication skills, and be able to fluently read and speak English. Job details include island strolling, reef snorkeling, and enjoying a rent-free beach home complete with a plunge pool and a golf buggy, plus some minor tasks which include performing weekly blog/photo/video updates and occasional dealings with the media.
Undoubtedly the best job in the world. Who WOULDN'T want this job. :P Quote:

Re: "Best Job In The World"...
I, as anyone else, would be all over that if the opportunity came up. Dunno how they'll go about picking someone though.
Oh wait, just read, the application is open? Going to apply now. If I don't get this, at least I have my current internship in DisneyWorld to fall back on.

You're there for six months, and by day 3 you suddenly realize, "Holy sh*t, I'm stranded on an island for six months with no people WTF I QUIT I QUIT!!!"

While on the island, you also have to do video and blog updates, meaning you have internet.
Who needs people when you have the internet?

Damn, I was really hoping that someone hadn't posted about this so that I would have a better chance at winning.
Still, I think that this job would be fantastic. I would love to spend a all that time on the beach, and to get paid to do it... This has got to be a great idea for Australia. Sure, they're spending a lot of money on it, but think of all the publicity they will receive because of it. |

Re: "Best Job In The World"...
It's a publicity stunt to get more tourists to come to Australia. The idea is that whoever stays there will make those blogs and will make more people want to come to Australia. They know with this kind of job the blog is going to be positive.
Also, I already applied a while back (when I saw it in the paper). Krissy + me for 6 months rent-free. Who wouldn't try for that. |

That's amazing. I'm thinking of telling my friends about this so they can go in my place and tell me about it. Yet it seems so lonely at the same time to be there all alone for 6 months.

Re: "Best Job In The World"...
You know they say "a few minor tasks". That seems awfully vague and discomforting.
