Bad habit is bad.

I kind of understand hoarding material possessions and things like that, but GARBAGE? REALLY? That's just sick. And then to get lost in it and die? Unfathomable. Do you guys have any thoughts about, or maybe any experiences with this behavior? Please share. Also, are there a lot of eccentric loners in Britain? Just wondering, lol. |

At 74 something tells me it's psychological. It's a "weird" habit nonetheless, but there's got to be a reason for developing it.

Re: Bad habit is bad.
There have been stories like this in the past. In one there were two of them who did the same thing but they were paranoid about someone stealing their junk so they set up traps in their tunnels. One day one of the guys gets caught in his own trap. The other one goes to find help but gets lost in the tunnels and is crushed by and 'avalanche' so to speak, of his own debris.
Yeah it's weird and totally gross to me, but some people are just like that. It's their fault for not foreseeing the possible consequences of their actions.

Re: Bad habit is bad.
If they're unaware of their psychological hinders it's not their fault. If they can't fix it or don't even realize there's something wrong with it, you can't really blame them. Despite all the labels us "normal" people cast, it doesn't matter, something had to have happened to them that caused this habit.

Re: Bad habit is bad.
Im still surprised that none of their neighbors knew that they were hoarding all that trash. I mean, they must have smelled it or something.

Re: Bad habit is bad.
@^ He wasn't seen by neighbors for days.
I wonder how long it took him to collect all that junk? Also, for some reason, Pac-Man and Dig Dug both ran through my mind when reading this. I've probably been playing too much of the Namco 3-in-1 cabinet at work... Last edited by Tater Tot; 01-8-2009 at 09:58 PM.. |

Re: Bad habit is bad.
It's funny how I had to point out something overlooked by the poster before me to them, and yet I never called them a retard. Hmmmm. Isn't it funny how easy it is to point something out to someone without being an ass?

Hoarding actual trash is a habit I couldn't see anyone without a psychological disorder do. I mean, sure, people hoard items they once used to love, and sure, it does clutter up their space of living, but to actually hold on to garbage? That's just flat out strange.

It's by Fox News so it's probably incredibly exaggerated

Re: Bad habit is bad.
I clicked on the "Read more from the sun" link.
There are pictures and everything! One local said: “It’s very sad. It sounds like he died in an awful way. The Environmental Health people knew about the state of his home but I guess because he paid his bills and didn’t break the law they just left him alone.” Shows just how much the British Authorities care. ):
