Those are decent. Ambient things look a lot better IMO, but those are pretty good.

planets are kinda weirdly...rendered?
not sure what the word is
also on the banner the cut in half thing is kinda weird

all in all good job for beginning

I am going to say a few things.

Your planets:
When your trying to replicate a space field, try to emphasize lighting alot.
(hint: Your big fuzzy brush tool is your best friend besides your bleding options)
When you get down the lighting, then try and render the planets surface with brushes or whatever. Once you have your surface laid, go back and use your levels tool to accentuate the lighting. The masking tool is also not a bad idea on planets.

The actual space backgroud is a whole 'nother story.

Other then that, keep up the good work.
And keep up the work ^_^!

These are nice. But for the first one, put the solar flare behind the planets.
Edit: Like behind the blue rings.
