For fucks sakes just block all of Latvia. It takes 20 seconds to load a single page and this has been going on for a week.

A post from an admin as to what is being done regarding FFR being flooded would be helpful. I don't think blocking all traffic from Latvia is the correct solution, in case there is legitimate traffic from there.

Re: Uhh ok.. dear Admins (pretty obvious thread)
It is a good solution. You kill 100% of the illegitimate traffic and wait until they give up.

Re: Uhh ok.. dear Admins (pretty obvious thread)
How do you define "illegitimate" traffic though? If it were that simple, it would be easy to filter it out altogether and be done with it (and most likely would have been done already). Additionally, how would you feel if you were a player from Latvia?
I discussed this the other day with somebody. Limiting the amount of traffic a user can generate before they receive an IP ban would probably work. Ideally, the limit would be something that a normal user would never reach. Even if that doesn't fully stop the website from being slowed down, it might help considerably.

"Based on internet averages, flashflashrevolution.com is visited more frequently by females who are in the age range 45-54, have no college education and browse this site from school."
I laughed. |

Re: Uhh ok.. dear Admins (pretty obvious thread)
It doesn't need to be that complicated. You just block legitmate Latvia players until the Ddos is over.

Re: Uhh ok.. dear Admins (pretty obvious thread)
put up a page in plaintext that loads saying "if you're a legit player from latvia then email us at (email) to have your IP unblocked"
it's not blocking them from loading a page but at least it's a page that's only a few bytes instead of high-content flash/php/etc. pages that use considerable bandwidth |

Re: Uhh ok.. dear Admins (pretty obvious thread)
Interesting idea. The only problem I see with that is that it is still an inconvenience to players from there. In terms of a quick-and-dirty solution, I think it would work well though. Unless, of course, the admins already have something in mind that they aren't sharing.

Re: Uhh ok.. dear Admins (pretty obvious thread)
Trying something is better than sitting here trying to think of the best and most logical solution whilst doing nothing. I say go ahead with a global post about Latvia players and getting an e-mail from them, and then shut the site off from Latvia players in 2 days and see if it does anything.
Worse case scenario the population changes from Latvia to something else like Switzerland, in that case you now know it's a DDoS. |

Re: Uhh ok.. dear Admins (pretty obvious thread)
I understand where you guys are coming from, but think of it this way: even if there is just a few players from there, they may still feel as if they are being unfairly inconvenienced. If there is no other recourse, then what Detri said would be fine. My point is that of fairness to players of every region, no matter how many people are connecting from there.
