How does the FFR staff make money?

I was playing and thinking about that today, since this site is completely free (unless we join), how does the staff make money? On commercials? Or is it a no-profit (besides whatever people donate or buy clothes) site or what? haha. just been wondering that for a while now.

I don't know about the developers, but all of the moderating staff of all parts of the site are volunteers.

The company makes money via subscriptions, and the presence of ads for non-subscribers, I assume.

I have no idea what kind of costs are associated with hosting such a site as this with this kind of userbase, but it still exists so it can't be doing that poorly.

As Shash said, all staff who aren't admins are volunteers, and I don't actually know whether or not admins (some or all) are paid, and if so how much.

Some admins do get paid, but not all. No moderators get paid, we're all volunteers. But yea, that's why we have advertisements and can get rid of them when a subscription is bought.

LD i thought you used to get paid... something about the only way you could work on the site and become an admin was if you quit your job, and so synth told you to quit your job and he would pay you... it was on the front page a few years ago. maybe my minds going tho.

Doubtful they would do their jobs for free - even if it is a second job for some.
