Re: "Why should I never buy a Mac?"
I do a lot of programming. I need to do builds of things for Mac every now and then, but I don't want to buy a mac just for that one thing.
Solution: Stick OSX on a regular PC, easier then you think. So now I have a PC running snow leopard for thousands less then a Mac, plus it outperforms any Mac out there. |

If you want the best of both worlds in one machine without doing it yourself, you can get a machine from these fellas. http://www.quocomputer.com/
EDIT: Also, one thing I noticed, in your final comparison, you're comparing the iMac with 16GB of RAM to a PC with 8GB of RAM.

Re: "Why should I never buy a Mac?"
most people in the world aren't making music or graphics so a normal computer or mac. whatever they want they will get because they aren't worrying about how well it will run WoW or whatever people are playing now adays. Personally, I don't want a mac, so many short-cuts with the mouse and what not, just add buttons like a normal mouse pad >_>

Re: "Why should I never buy a Mac?"
Totally agree with OP on this one. ALL Macs are overpriced and are pretty much for people who want to be "cool" in high school/college rather than who want a high performance low price machine. Too bad I'm not the cool kid
Also, someone posted about iPods and whatnot. In my opinion iPods are fine but really overpriced for such a small amount of space. Sure you get cool features like video and stuff but if you are buying an music player for that....why? I like MUSIC so I like Archos; up to 500GB of space and the ability (with an easy to find download or two from the site) to play ANY type of song whether it be OGG or FLAC. no conversions necessary. |

Re: "Why should I never buy a Mac?"
I guess none of you guys get into serious music production, or art or anything of the sort.
Sure you can do the same things on a window's machine, but the best programs are not only mac-friendly, but in some cases mac exclusive. You guys are just a bunch of snobby nerds that act like people that own Mac computers are dumb. Well, newsflash, I've got a PC and a Mac and my Mac beats the living **** out of my PC in terms of pretty much everything. Plus, it only cost me roughly 900 more than my PC did 3 years ago

Re: "Why should I never buy a Mac?"
N*gga don't know bout my two years working on an iMac. I have used one and I liked it but a GOOD PC does the same as that for thousands less. Sure it looks nice but Macs rely on hype far too much. And TRUE nerds know Linux>ALL
EDIT::: In case anyone is confused I am not saying "Macs SUCK" I am saying they are great for music/art production but you also have to have a pretty large wallet to afford on. I am just arguing for PRICE. =P

I guarantee you, you couldn't sell ANYTHING without trying to hype it up first. Oh and if you can get a good discount (any good white collar job will hook you up with lots of corporate deals) Macs become just as affordable, my ~$3500 machine ended up costing about ~$2700. Could I have gotten a PC for less? Yes. Am I a broke nerd that complains about how expensive the world is? No.

Re: "Why should I never buy a Mac?"
So you're telling me that if you produced a product, never told ANYONE about it, people would still know to buy it from you?
Good logic dude. MEDIA hype and commercialism is completely different, but you CAN'T be a salesman without hyping up your product in some way, even if it's just showing the world (or just a few friends) what you've got

Re: "Why should I never buy a Mac?"
What's funny is that you don't have to be a "nerd" to know how to build a computer, or know what good stuff is. All it takes is a little research which takes about 10 minutes? People can save a lot of money, but most are just lazy to do some research.

Re: "Why should I never buy a Mac?"
You should learn to read Bender. He's talking about the HARDWARE Mac sells. Not the operating system itself. Before you start **** talking you should grow a ****ing brain and learn to read. You can install OSX on pretty much any Intel based PC. I even agree OSX from a technical aspect is a superior OS, but it's all about needs. If my computer needs didn't involve software that's only been made for Windows, I wouldn't even in my life put Windows on a computer of mine, but these days I'm on Windows 80% of the time.
In my opinion, anybody with a Mac computer: a) Didn't do their research b) Dumb as hell (Includes being a hipster ******) Their hardware is just a bunch of off the shelf stuff like everybody else, but put in a shiny white box. If Steve Jobs took a **** and packaged it in a shiny white box, Mac fanboys would buy it. Last edited by fido123; 12-27-2010 at 11:47 AM.. |

Re: "Why should I never buy a Mac?"
I should learn to read, because I supported Mac in this thread. Because I have enough money to buy a Mac, and because I don't complain about high prices in our inanely overpriced economy.
Yup.... I was trying to play devil's advocate seeing as both sides of the argument should be fairly represented, but everyone gets SO GOD DAMNED BUTTHURT on this site, it's like the trolls can't take their own medicine because it hits too close to home. I LOVE PC'S. I LOVE MAC'S. ****, maybe I just ****ing love technology, don't I? But when it comes to an unfairly skewed argument, even when I obviously know **** is WAY over-priced during a time where technology just keeps getting cheaper, I can still support Mac computers

Re: "Why should I never buy a Mac?"
Understood, but its like two burger joints side by side, you dont choose the one closer to you just so you dont spend an extra 5 seconds driving, you pick the better one by performance, reputation, and taste.
btw im just teasing you man, im just saying inconvinience alone on account that it literally takes 1 extra second to right click shouldn't turn you away from a mac thats just ridiculous, you buy macs because its userfriendly or you buy PC because it performs better, those are more legitimate reasons. Most uneducated opinion evah.
