About the account registry.
I've gotten several questions recently about various names that cause malfunctions on various parts of the site. There was the apostrophe incident, and there seem to be some other characters that don't allow you to register on the profile chat (dragon890x has told me that the name ☆神☆ causes Profile Chat to not register you as a user, also, can't get to his profile from the forums using the dropdown list). There seem to be a lot of problems originating from the unrestricted name registry.
I think the best way to solve this problem is to not allow some characters to be used in the name when registering. Is it possible to get a list of characters that could interfere with features on FFR? Is it possible to restrict the usable characters during the account registry? Apparently, all non alpha-numeric characters are problematic to flash. And the apostrophe is problematic with coding. There should be a warning on the registry to prevent users from making this mistake.

Re: About the account registry.
It actually should not be hard to do. I do not think they will have to mess with vB code that much either.

Re: About the account registry.
But would that interfere with profiles that already have that name?

Re: About the account registry.
It has to do with flash. Any non alpha-numeric character interferes with the product design. Symbols, Greek letters, Japanese characters all have a problem with flash. Literally anything that isn't a number or a letter could potentially have problems with registry.
I think this issue has been brought up before, and I recall restriction not actually being possible (I may have misunderstood). I would like to see a warning for those about to register though so that they know if they create an account with non alpha-numeric characters they will be missing out on a lot of FFR's features. Re: About the account registry.
People with problematic account names would probably already have started new ones by now... I think.
EDIT: Oh ok... well then, a warning.

Re: About the account registry.
It has been address in some places, and should be addressed for future users, true enough.
Will look at further options. |

Re: About the account registry.
If I remember correctly, this is the way that it used to be because I tried to register a name with ( ) before and it would not work.
