Re: Competitive Smash Bros.
The Big House 4 was honestly one of the best tournaments I've ever watched. Really wish I could have gone now. Probably the best top 8 I've ever seen.

Re: Competitive Smash Bros.
So uhh, I've been watching a lot of competitions/tournaments lately (mainly Melee but occasionally brawl) and every video I've heard people talk about Mew2King like he's a god or something
Saw his comeback videos, thought we was great then I watched most of the videos I could find on him. he's actually pretty bad against no-namers. aMSa came by as a newcomer and absolutely rekt M2K. Saw another video where M2K was so angry but he did it to himself like comeon. Don't get mad, it's a game.

Re: Competitive Smash Bros.
m2k is legitimately one of the best lol what are you smoking
aMSa isn't a newcomer at all either, he's been around the smash scene for a long while. that amsa/m2k match was hype as shit because amsa wrecked m2k; m2k is one of the best, and the reason for the hype was because m2k is one of the best, and got wrecked. there's a reason he gets to like evo top 8 lol |

Re: Competitive Smash Bros.
I'm smoking dat good shit man
I know M2K is in god tier when it comes to the smash scene but lately all the videos I've seen is him getting stomped by someone I don't know Personal fan of Armada though, and I like Mango now but I didn't like him in the beginning

Re: Competitive Smash Bros.
Ohmyfuckinggod. When I saw the matchup between Mango and Hungrybox, my jaw was on the floor the entire time. Felt bad that hungrybox had to use the same maneuver twice to make it even on Mango but still, that was very impressive.
I'm a Fox Main but I also Main Mr Game & Watch cause 9 op

Re: Competitive Smash Bros.
The new smash on the 3DS runs and looks fine, but I still feel there is way less opportunities for competitive play. Moreso on that, I feel the pros won't be able to execute these half a second maneuvers on the 3DS.
Plus it's new territory for everyone. We all were accustomed to the GameCube controller (or N64/Wii if you rolled that way) so it'll be interesting to watch some people and what skill they'll transfer over.

Re: Competitive Smash Bros.
smash 4 looks like negative potential for competitive play.
shittons of landing lag upon using aerial moves means inherently slower gameplay. Lack of actual moves that can combo also means slower gameplay, and more focus on camping and attempting to land lone hits. moves being soley knockback based would lead to this as well. fucked up edge guarding mechanics reduces edge guard opportunities. certain characters are waaaaaaaaay more overpowered than others because of a stronger emphasis on zoning with projectiles. Most likely, i see characters like duck hunt dog being super strong because of keepaway with projectiles. it's way closer to brawl than melee, simply put, and my guess is that it won't be viable for competitive play. that's not to say it shouldn't be given a chance, but it feels like it's going to fall down the path that brawl did. also jigglypuff still sucks so this game sucks too |

Re: Competitive Smash Bros.
Hah, I doubt the online play will last long. I will give it that it has better connectivity than brawl did.
And I agree with Yosh, certain characters you'll see a lot of is because of their keepaway skills with projectiles (like Samus in melee) Also, I've heard that this new one is supposed to be very similar to brawl (I originally heard it was supposed to meet in the middle of Melee and Brawl but that was a crock of shit). Jiggs still not OP, will get his/her shining moment soon enough Kind of upset that kirby isn't really a tier character though, so much potential especially in brawl.

Re: Competitive Smash Bros.
You mean the amount of players or...?
Because if so, I can't see this game running short on players online. |

Think of it this way, nobody wants to see a fresh player (might even be so fresh as to starting Smash Bros with this one on the 3DS) go up against 3 other players who have 500~ games under their belt already.

Re: Competitive Smash Bros.
Oh, then I'm right on schedule then. I plan to keep playing Smash for 3DS and getting better at it along with the other thousands or so players.

But it was the most hype tournament I have ever been to. I didn't bad in both events but running pools was fun. I ran a melee pool and it had Oro and Doh in it and their match was on stream which was pretty cool. |
