Oh yeah, Dossar, the reason why my intro is like that WAS because I did not want to layer the weird percussion that was very VERY random. I don't imagine it would be fun to play, I actually attempted to include the random drums, but I chose to ignore it partially.

Clocktown 9 5 7.5 8

happy at how this fared, although the 5 is a real buzzkill

Challenge the final mission! 7 7 7.5 7

Yay, I guess. Not removing that huge spike though . 4 ffr 4 eva

Crucial 7 4 6 6.5

I'll probably fix this, the song is great.

Still Remaining 5 6.5 7 6 isn't worth mentioning, I kind of started to hate it myself anyway after stepping/playtesting it. MN...yeah, it's just you

Just a note to everyone:

Remember that the batch isn't closed anymore. If your allotment of files has yet to be used up within this two-month period (May-June), then you're free to submit stuff still.

And of course, for those of you with accepted files, you can send fixes anytime before their release. (but wait for the official list of accepted files first)

@Wayward Vagabond - I'm sad there were no notes posted your rating on my file... Perhaps when you get a free moment, I'd like to hear why you gave it that. I actually highly value your input. Perhaps PM me or something? Haha, How else can I improve? :P

Thank you judges! I'll adjust my files based on your notes!
I had done video reviews for the first half of the batch. When I went to go preview the video I noticed to you couldn't hear what I was saying so I said fuck it and didn't repeat what I said and just gave ratings mostly. Its why the first half of my notes are more bare than usual

Guile of the Rime King (FissionMailed1) - [+.] 7/10
- I feel like the 48th graces aren't necessary starting at s64.54.
- s73.47, a 3 note long 16th jack at nearly 200 bpm seems like it would irritate a player immensely since this is easily a good trap.
- The part with the gabber-like sounds are pretty fun to hit.
- s141.19, start changing up the patterns here. Copy and pasting this pattern causes the simfile to become bland.
- This part feels overlayered at s150.89, I'd tone down on the hands whenever the slow downs come in.
- There aren't really errors, just a lot of copy and pasting. Nice job on the file though.
- Made grace notes fall on the same frame.
- Made this two minijacks.
- Thanks!
- Disagree. This is the only time this part repeats.
- I understand where you are coming from, but I wanted to acknowledge both the Drum and Bass as well as the bells. The Drum and Bass rhythms are pretty distinct here, and the bells are pretty noticeable, so I wanted to reflect that in the steps.
- Thanks again!

Quote:
Guile of the Rime King

Compared to other Clonepa songs, this is relatively enjoyable, and the same can be said for the chart. Patterns flow well for the most part, some of the jacks are pretty brutal at this speed, but the file is geared towards better players. Grace note usage is solid, and the PR throughout the file is really well done. 8/10
Glad you liked the file! I fixed the jack, as I mentioned above.

Quote:
Guile of the Rime King (FissionMailed1)
Rating: 8/10 [+]
- 2.254/2.406: these two notes land right next to each other in terms of tone, so use U/R instead of R/U (not a big deal, but it was the very first thing I saw )
- 31.228: good attention to PR.
- 64.559/64.854: accenting the clap with a different color is fine, but in this particular area, it is daunting to hit separated as is -- this likely will create a nasty frame issue, too -- be mindful of things like this. It might be better to just turn the 48ths to 4ths (i.e. 4th jumps) rather than separating, just for the sake of playability and frame cleanliness.
- 73.469: change this to something that isn't a down arrow, as the next two pairings of notes are a different percussion sample
- 115.438: very nice change in pattern for the tonal change
- 146.723: missed a note
- for my tastes, not bad at all! One of the minor things that I noticed was a slight inconsistency in colored accenting for overtones (buzzes) in half BPM areas, but it's hardly a big deal. The structure is pretty straight-forward, but the pattern choice really shines during the drum breaks, as patterns repeat in accordance to the sequencing of the samples. Also: is it possible for you to get a constant BPM for this? Your sync seemed pretty good, but I couldn't help but notice that it was jumping all over the place, which is a little odd for Clonepa, haha.
- Fixed! Thanks, no idea why I did that.
- Thank you.
- Made these fall on the same frame, as mentioned above.
- Fixed this as well, also mentioned above.
- Thank you
- Good catch. Added the missing note.
- I synced mostly every measure by hand. To me, sync in general is really important. When I play files that are a constant BPM, but the music actually varies a little bit, it frustrates me because I tap along to the music and get lower judgments than I should be.

Quote:
Guile of the Rime King (FissionMailed1) - at 151.7 drop everyone by one(hands to jumps jumps to singles) with jumps really only going to the snare because the volume is lower and removing pretty much all of the layering would reflrect that. cut song at 180 6.5
Addressed the layering issue earlier in this post. I don't agree with cutting this, because there are parts later on that vary significantly than before.

I'm not going to comment on my Canary Part 3 reviews. It was my second file, the song choice isn't that good, and I'm done with this file for good.

Middie:

-1 for the stringency (you kinda ran into a double-edged sword -- it was good that it was very easy to understand, but you left yourself no room to really keep it different and fresh).
-1 for the huge jumpstream difficulty spike in the final stretch
-1 for the notation change at the end -- you had very powerful accents at the end of each drum fill that signified the start of a new measure, but you divided the BPM by 2/3 and it made some of those accents on 12th notes, which really didn't look very good.
- I start all files off with a base value of 9.

I want a re-judge of two of my files, because I got completely screwed over by Kommi, and his notes were absolute garbage.

Quote:
Clouds from the East [1/10]
-so many notes missed. this file makes absolutely no sense. all the prominent piano notes are completely ignored
First off, in the judgment ratings, it states that a file should receive a 1 if it has poor sync, improper offset, ridiculous difficulty spikes, etc. This file has proper sync, proper BPM, is intended to be an easy file (which I'm bolding because I feel like you completely disregarded that), and actually has proper pitch relevance and structure, yet for some reason, you completely bombed my file.

With that being said, I'll take responsibility from 15.758 to 31.432, which megamon88 appropriately mentioned that the switches from LH piano to RH piano were jarring -- I actually had no idea I even was switching back and forth like that; it was completely unintentional and it has been fixed. All of the prominent notes were nailed in the piano with the exception of two whole notes. Come on.

In fact, megamon's review for my file was absolutely perfect in terms of picking up what was actually wrong with the file.

Quote:
Clouds from the East [TC_Halogen]: [8/10]
-interesting choice to step the lh piano at the beginning instead of the melody in the rh (hehe)
-the swtich from rh to lh piano at 17.74s is jarring and unexpected (fixed, not sure how I did that O_o)
-layering feels old-school at 31.46s (very straightforward and simple, as intended
-i understand you want this to be an easy file but 34.03s feels odd without anything there, a 16th will suffice (even though it's actually 32nds) (yeah, I actually initially had the 16ths there; I actually had 24ths in the section after it because it's a smoother motion that has the same amount of notes, making it a bit easier. I opted out of those and just used 8ths for the first part, 16ths for the second part, and 16ths for the end)
-same thing with 36.72s, it's an artistic choice but it feels odd omitting it since they don't happen too often
-layering gets a bit messy at 109.83s, some clap jumps are omitted while others are not (i see what you're doing layering the clap with the melody, but in cases like these, sometimes it is better to step all the claps as jumps so the player can follow the layering more easily, especially if the player is newer) (your notes in parentheses are 100% correct, but that was actually intended )
-overall a good easy file that feels old-school, fix a few inconsistencies and it will be good to go
And the other one:
Quote:
Fast Rap Battle [4/10]
-if you're using color notes you might as well layer it more. can't help but feel that jumps should be added. this whole file is single notes. don't really know which difficulty you're catering to.
Color notes in this context aren't the same -- these aren't colored notes that happen because the rhythm is incredibly complex; these color notes are put in purposely to differentiate the different rappers, which brings me to my next point: no, I'm not adding a single jump to the file, nor am I going to focus on any other instruments. The chart intends on following only the rap when it's happening -- that note is complete garbage and shouldn't have even shown up given the fact that you were able to see there wasn't a single jump in the entire file. Also, difficulty wasn't even an issue here; there are songs with nothing but streams on FFR and this would have been a good addition too, considering it's actually got pattern relevance to the lyrics, but hey -- can't expect that to be noticed.

Yet again, megamon delivered good notes for this too (sorry about the VBR issue - had no idea!).

But yeah, I'm pretty pissed off that I got a 7.5 / 7.5 / 8 from three judges, only to get shot down because of two terrible ratings (a 1 after two 7.5s and an 8? really?).

I knew Shout 2000 wouldn't go over well so that was no surprise. I don't understand why 3/4 judges complained that a DWTS easy file needed more layering lmao if I wanted to layer a bunch of shit I would pick a song actually worth it
