Sooooo I was going to make a new thread for thirdstyle but I am too lazy and need to go to bed anyway, but this site keeps looking better and better.
The game engine is better (in terms of coding, haxe vs. full flash, how smooth it runs).
Longer playfield (can screencut if you don't like)
Potential use of gimmicks and holds
ZERO community. Absolutely none. Most people refuse to go to the website specifically for this reason. HOW ABOUT WE ALL GO PLAY THIRDSTYLE???

Updates to come:
Isk is working on a native engine that will:
have cmod (as opposed to the amod currently)
have replay capabilities
be an .exe and not rely on browser or standalone flash player
run at 180fps steadily
this is not a promise, this is done, and not released to the public yet. I have tested it, because the dev at ThirdStyle keeps people updated on what he's doing and allows and encourages extensive testing. The native engine is amazing.

Please make TS a thing again. It's an incredible game and it's in the process of getting a hell of a lot better. Which is saying something when you think how much better than FFR it already is. I mean no disrespect to anyone here staff or community, I just want to re-raise awareness of a game which I deem to be superior in performance, and severely lacking in population.

their charting policy and content generation is pretty bad.

like UF says, i like alot of the ffr songs and files already.

if you think of batch issues on ffr, it's almost no difference in community, and batch judging for ts is pretty much the same lol

also, the fact that you need to step 4 difficulties for a chart literally kills my drive for stepping (i'm guessing for a lot of other people too) and it also leads to some charts being arbitrarily difficulty spiked, and also leads to marathon songs being the most arduous thing in the rhythm game world, having to play it 3 times if you care about clearing up your ranks

ya the game engine is objectively better than ffr's but ts also has limited song choice, absolutely zero community, and will never have a community due to how fucking circlejerky it is

Dude calm down. It's not nearly as bad as you make it out to be. There's a few gems in the game, and there's a few things they do that I totally wish FFR did. Like not making simfile artists pay for their own files when they end up in the shop, and the complete lack of a secret genre is good too.

Their trophy system is well done by comparison to our token / "skill" token system, because we can't even sort that shit right. /urgh

But they do some stuff wrong too such as requiring four charts most of the time, but then allowing files like Fury Of The Storm in game with only one. Or allowing insane spikes that make the Bmah look relatively tame. They also for a while allowed the simauthors to talk about their own files on the front page, which is something that once reviews are done again I'd love to see FFR do.

I mean it's certainly better than Osu in my honest opinion. Though admittedly, I haven't touched Osu since they had just added Osumania, so I have no idea how Osumania pans out to be fair.

Edit: This post is weird, it reads like I'm singing praise to TS but I can't say I find TS to be better than FFR or SM. But they do somethings really well. I do also have to add they have some goddamned great permissions to use as well.

It's such a shame that TS is suffering from lack of community and song choices despite its far far better game engine than that of FFR.

The song choices isn't really a legitimate complaint IMO. FFR only has so many because it's been around for so long. FFR has what, 1712 public files and IDK how many token/skill token. And probably 1600-1650 unique public songs and again IDK how many token/skill token. Thirdstyle has 345 songs to make 1374 unique files (I do agree from both a stepping standpoint, four difficulties sucks. It's extremely noob friendly though). There's also a wealth of permissions available including T-swift (my jam), DragonForce of course, as well as anyone signed under SONY ATV.

The catch is that none of the songs by those artists can be cut/altered in any way. BUT STILL. TS HAS CRAZY CONNECTION AND CRAZY PERMISSION COME ON EVERYONE STOP COMPLAINING ABOUT SONGS. Just man up and find a song you like and step it. heh.

I had an idea with the whole 4 difficulties per song.

Maybe if there was 4 different people working on each song, it could speed up production. While it's probably going to be hard to find 4 people for each song, it could be a way for experienced step artists to show newer ones what to do. Again, just ideas I'm throwing out here.

And it's a great idea! and it is done players collab all of the time, that way a player who isn't as good can step something they can play or they are more comfortable with, and give it to a more experienced player/stepartist to chart the higher difficulties. It's been done quite often actually, and when selecting a difficulty it shows who stepped it (if all four are not from the same stepartist).
