Re: FFR Token Image Contest: Public Voting
Yeah but mimicking a token it shouldn't be is the same as just using a skill hand lol. It's not a skill token so it shouldn't look like one either.
It's fine though, whichever wins I'm fine with it :P

About the colors, they have a greyish tone because I wanted to represent a dying earth. But using vivid colours could make it more shining to the eye, I'm still unsure if I made the best choice, but I like it this way. Quote:

That was one of my propositions (the first I've made for this token and my favourite). Don't know why the judges chose the round one. I made it simply because I wasn't sure the stop sign shape would be accepted.

Re: FFR Token Image Contest: Public Voting
All three were sent to the judges, and the round one was picked as the best one. We didnt disqualify the stop sign at all, just so you know.

I have to say, I'm overall pretty satisfied with the poll results. There was only one result I didn't agree with, haha. |

Re: FFR Token Image Contest: Public Voting
Looks like I'm heading towards 2nd place everywhere... Well, I'm certainly happy of my 5 nominations, can't say this about the poll. ^^
That was certainly an interesting contest, I hope there will be another one so I can take my revenge. Oh yeah, hype for 3rd place tokens.

Re: FFR Token Image Contest: Public Voting
Well, Spitfire said that HE wanted noname's token to win. Therefore, I assume that he can pull his token and say FFR can't use it. However, at the same time, he did enter the contest. I guess that it's up to the judges, and Spitfire.

Re: FFR Token Image Contest: Public Voting
Sucks nonames R176 isnt going to win, that one was actually unique for reasons spitfire mentioned earlier. Not to much a fan of random graphics that look like they took 2 mins to make (no offense Xeno, even though I felt this was about a few of your submissions), they are fine if they are in a set like a majority of our current skill tokens, but by themselves just not a fan of them.

Someone clue me in on Spitfire's design for Yama Xanadu. I'm not well versed in Touhou at all; I just listened to the song once and winged it.

Re: FFR Token Image Contest: Public Voting
For the submissions, I guess I was most disappointed about Nothing's Gonna Stop Me v2 and R176 v2 ... I definitely liked that noname219's R176 token was actually happy-looking, but the cat in the corner threw me off. It looked to me like Master Shifu from Kung Fu Panda, eheh. Rawrf, and those shots in TV shows or whatever when it has a transparent image of someone's face in the sky because the person died and some character is remembering them? The token made me think about that. I voted for Xeno/Zeph's image because it didn't mess with my head, even though I didn't think it was happy enough.
As for Nothing's Gonna Stop Me v2 ... Well, if nothing is stopping you, then, that's about, uh, not stopping ... so I think everyone kinda had that whole "red/stop" thing backwards. If we're going to use Xenorosth's (just realized I've been reading your username wrong this whole time, as "xenosorth") token for this, it kinda could use a little pretty-ing up ... If I could get that red burst background image, I'd like to make a revised version, but if you want to fix it up yourself, you can do that ... or if you don't want to fix it up at all, you can do that too, but at least consider this: the background is still a circle, so it should be squished to match the oval shape of the token at an angle, and the border should be something other than black, because it merges with both the background and the shadow, so it's like there's nothing there. With the results, I guess I'm most surprised about Kirlian Shores. Sorry Xenorosth, but you didn't experiment with border or hand color at all, and that really dulled all of your submission ... And _.Spitfire._'s Kirlian Shores was my favorite of his. ... And now someone can say, "If you're going to be bitter now, you should have commented on submissions as they were coming in!" and, yeah, you're right; I'm disappointed most in myself for not trying to help when it really mattered, urf, so I'm really sorry about that ... Anyway, um, Zephei's White Walls, Part 2 token was my favorite overall, then noname219's Ball of Malt v2 token. It has barley for whiskey on it, and it looks well-done, so I thought it was a perfect fit. I really liked Zephei's The earth blew up v2 token, but it didn't get top two. (Its gold border matches the flames more than a black border does.) noname219's was more creative, though, so I wouldn't have been able to pick a winner if it was between those two. aaaa im so paranoid about people getting offended at anything i say and it makes it hard to want to say anything ever and aaaaa gosh And uh ... I don't know. I'll just say this much for now ... This was definitely an interesting experience. I'm glad people had fun with it. |

Awwwww mannnnn. The Colors themed token for White Walls pt. 2 is so awesome. T_T
It's a shame pretty much no one voted for it, meh. :\ |

By the way, I think it's safe to say that Spitfire won this competition. Not necessarily dominated it, but most of his tokens did a good job in gathering the majority of votes. Overall, this was a good competition and I'd like to judge for another one of these in the future.

Re: FFR Token Image Contest: Public Voting
The only reason that I didn't color the hand and rim is because I couldn't figure out how to do so with Gimp. Or I WOULD have. The template you gave confused the CRAP outta me. I given you permission to do whatever you want with it Silvuh. I'll work on 'em a bit first though.
Edit: Crap. Just noticed that I don't have the background images anymore. I did each token on the same file. If you want to edit R1, Maybe Zeph has it, otherwise you'll have to select what's around it. Anyway. The idea for Nothing's Gunna Stop Me is that the stop (which is why it's the 'stop sign' red) Is being shattered in an epic manner. Last edited by Xenorosth; 01-20-2013 at 10:28 PM.. |
