Re: The Last Book You Read, etc, etc
I finished The Demonata series by Darren Shan a little while back...
planning on reading: Cirque de freak EDIT: you should take the time to invest in reading a novel called: Lolita it is by Vladimir Nabokov... you might be turned off of reading it when you find out what it's about though... but then again the best novels are always "Unique" Last edited by jprox445; 01-10-2012 at 02:21 PM.. |

Re: The Last Book You Read, etc, etc
The last book I read was probably Mockingjay by Suzanne Collins. GREAT series. Seriously.

Yes, very good series, I finished that book in November. Are you going to catch the Hunger Games movie?

Re: The Last Book You Read, etc, etc
umberto eco - history of beauty
a bit of a slog towards the last third but informative, well-written by eco (the other guy who contributed is slightly worse), very well illustrated with informative--and lengthy, and numerous--secondary texts. never really gets toward a cohesive conception of beauty but that's sort of the point, frustrating though it may be: beauty is as fluid as the culture that surrounds it. good stuff, would dock a few (imaginary) points for occasionally wonky translation, especially within the secondary texts, which had a few unnerving misspelled words |

Ready Player One
Fun, entertaining book, but horribly written. Way too much telling and not enough showing. |

Re: The Last Book You Read, etc, etc
I'm currently reading two books, actually.
Sole Survivor by Dean Koontz -- Amazing book. He's definitely one of my favorite authors. Many of his books are just simply amazing. Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter by Seth Grahame-Smith -- Not too far into this one (also, no, I haven't seen the movie yet), but it's great so far. Really entertaining. |

Re: The Last Book You Read, etc, etc
Randomly chosen on-sale book at chapters. The Left Hand of God. It's not very good. Feels different though, at least for what I've read, so it's got that going for it. It's the first of a trilogy I probably won't read the rest of unless the ending gets me hooked.

The Left Hand of God is pretty good. Thats the one with the guy raised in a brutal monastery right?
Finished off Brandon Sanderson's Warbreaker. Great book, he always makes compelling systems and characters, so glad he was picked to finish Jordan's epic. http://www.brandonsanderson.com/portal/Warbreaker |
