I'm looking for some specific information about FFR
So I'm doing a speech about FFR and I need some specific information to write and talk about, I need to know,
1. What caused the good-miss bug, and how it was fixed 2. The same for avmiss. My assignment says to use at least 1 of 4 different sources for my information, but since I'm guessing there not a whole lot of newspaper articles or books or periodicals such as newsweek about FFR, i'm going to have to rely on anyone welling to provide me with any useful information about FFR that I could talk about in my speech. |

Re: I'm looking for some specific information about FFR
There was something about FFR in a digg review, IIRC.
There was that other ignominious mentioning of FFR in a news article... For the other stuff I guess you should just PM Xelius and ask him.

R1 had good misses rofl.
Hit a late good and you miss the next arrow or something.

I can explain avmisses. Each row represents a frame in the 30FPS system of FFR. Mapping of the hit range of an arrow (note: this is downscroll) miss/boo good good perfect perfect perfect good average miss/boo Avmisses were caused when the perfect range of one arrow overlapped with the peripheral range of another arrow. 4framer (note: these are both left arrows under virtual relays) //////////miss //////////good //////////good //////////perfect miss//////perfect good/////perfect good/////good perfect/average perfect//miss perfect good average miss 1st arrow 2nd arrow As you can see by my terribly drawn diagram, if the first arrow is hit at the bold perfect, the game registers the hit as an average of the second arrow. Therefore, the first arrow is missed. If you hit the first arrow on the underlined perfects, no avmisses occur. Sorry, the slashes are spacers. In 3framers, the average of the 2nd arrow overlaps the middle perfect of the first. Avmisses are more likely to occur. In 2framers, the average of the 2nd arrow overlaps the earliest perfect of the first. Unless if the first arrow is hit as a good, an avmiss will DEFINITELY occur. In 1framers, the average of the 2nd arrow overlaps the good of the first. Unless if the first arrow is hit as an average, an avmiss will DEFINITELY occur. In 0framers, the average of the 2nd arrow overlaps the average of the first. The maps are completely on top of each other. One arrow is definitely missed, and a FC becomes impossible. Chrono Trigger Boss Theme was a song with a 0framer I believe. That is all I know about the history of avmisses. I forgot who discovered it. Xelius is the primary admin responsible for fixing the glitch. Hope I helped. I'm searching for a thread that had jimerax posting a better diagram of the avmiss... can't find it. You might want to pm some admins for more information and visual reference. EDIT: ROFL, I had a few good laughs looking at jimerax's old threads... (no offense meant. I have worse stuff.)

Re: I'm looking for some specific information about FFR
Good misses still existed, even in the version before the avmiss fix. It was most apparently on songs like Crowdpleaser during the megatrill (it was possible to get above the max combo).
An n-framer (where n=0, 2, 3, 4, or 5, etc) means two arrows of the same type (two lefts, two rights, two ups, or two downs) are n frames apart. Avmisses were an issue because there are generally 6 frames of active play: Average, Good, Early Perfect, Mid Perfect, Late Perfect, Good. If an n-framer is present in this active range, pressing the corresponding key will hit the second arrow of the n-framer (getting whatever judgment that arrow is on), while the first arrow becomes a Miss. Therefore, for example, an up-arrow 4-framer would mean two up arrows 4 frames apart. If you wait to hit the first arrow as a Late Perfect, this means the second arrow is currently in the Average frame ((*lp*)-(mp)-(ep)-(g)-(*a*)). Therefore you'll miss the first arrow and hit that second arrow as an Average. This means, at best, you can still get perfects on 4-framers as long as you avoid late perfects, and you can also get perfects on 3-framers if you avoid late and mid perfects, but 2-framer sets can only be hit as good-perfect at best, and a 1-framer can only be hit as an average-perfect at best.

I know that goodmisses existed up to the avmiss fix. Do they still exist today, as in, after the avmiss fix?

Re: I'm looking for some specific information about FFR
I thought that chrono trigger was known for its 0framer.
I'm wondering if goodmisses exist on FFR the Game in general today, or if they were fixed along with the avmisses. goodmisses (late good=miss) and avmisses (overlapping arrow maps cause miss) don't seem to be related to each other. Lol, llama. Have like nekomewmew translate DX

PS guyz, Replays have Good-Misses. Go watch replays of songs like Big Blue and other songs from the new fmo/fgos. You see the person get goods then missing right after, even though the person AAA'd.

Re: I'm looking for some specific information about FFR
This isn't the goodmiss we're talking about. The concepts behind this kind of goodmiss is the same as an avmiss. The only difference is that the player hit the first note where it would be processed as the good of the 2nd arrow (Which is a good thing, shows accuracy, because the player is most likely hitting the first arrow at the middle perfect frame. Most likely happens on a 2framer).

Re: I'm looking for some specific information about FFR
good misses were fixed over a year ago. there are 2 late good windows... the 2nd of those used to be a good-miss window. which led to funny SSs of people getting 500+ more notes hit than the song actually had, because they intentionally hit everything really really late, giving them good-misses... which counted the 1 note as a good and a miss.
vs avmisses, which gave you an average, miss, and boo for 2 notes.... keeping your total notes in the song accurate.

How about the admins for a source. They'll tell you everything about the site (or most of it, or none at all...). I never paid attention to the avmiss and good misses, so I never noticed much until the news post about them.
