i think the 64th usage in the beginning wasn't that reliant because the sounds were so silent
maybe 48ths woulda been better or just ignoring it altogether

the colors in o'er the flood are white, cyan(really just blue, but cyan to differentiate from all the 8ths otherwise in the chart), and green, which correspond to childhood, adulthood, and old-age, respectively (for example white symbolizes purity in childhood; blue and green are analogous with their own colors)
This is some new-age stepping right here

hey that explains why I wanted to die as soon as the file ended
(only because the file contains every roll pattern I suck shit at hitting)

ReALtaLK: The color accents are mainly there to give a sense of transition and progression through the song, and they occur at the same accented points in each color-phase. The coloring is symmetrical across the song, just like the song itself is. That's about it, it's not trying to be some hyper 24th-century stepmania theory about floods and life [I would've liked to make the accents all blue and white, but that would have forced the 64ths to be 8th accents instead, and that's terrible]

I understand that the idea is pretty hit-or-miss on a personal basis, but as far as actually trying to read/hit goes, it just takes some getting used to. M.A.M.A wasn't easy to warm up to, either...new stuff just takes some acclimatizing.

P.S: plz play the song on stereo sound output, or the ending will make no sense whatsoever with all its one-handed crap

Bird Sprite is a song where a player of my skill level should be a good challenge.

IMHO it's giving me a lot more trouble than Caelumize [69] did, also more than something like Clockwork [71] and a couple other 71s for example. The minijack is noticeable, accentuated by the white, but didn't give me fits as expected.

Love the stuff, would like to see some other D4/D5 people play through Bird Sprite though, like Auto, Yula, and S2K

Edit: o'er the flood is amazing, love it so much. Sightread of that (~37g) was actually better than my Bird Sprite one, though the latter is like ~11g now. Anyways, there's definitely some tricky stuff in o'er the flood, though it plays to my strengths. Props to VisD to this one, beautiful stuff

My sightread of Bird Sprite when not really warmed up was 20g clean, so it doesn't feel *that* hard. Haven't played it since, but just going off that it didn't seem too bad. Not a 70 imo, would feel easy for a 69. (For the record, my Caelumize sightread was worse than that and I was a bit more warmed up)

Cleaned it up in line with my Caelumize score, 69 seems about right

The sudden cut in Bird Sprite felt very weird to me, but it's a fun file. Right now, legit best score sitting at 4g, no FC cos white quad. I don't think the file is all that hard honestly, caelumize is way harder just off the 24ths alone and the jumpstream is more continuous. 67 seems ok.

The other files shiokara and o'er the flood are really solid files too

Cracknight is a psychedelic mess about someone trapped in a cage with a cold atmosphere. In this case, the surrounding paper is all white, and there is nothing to be seen outside except this little confined space.

For those who are interested in the text Bousfield is writing on the white paper, it comes from this work: http://www.annelawrence.com/mywords.html

The way Bousfield dresses is supposed to display transsexualism and this work of writing from Susan Stryker mentions a comment from a certain transphobic mentioning that transsexuals "War with nature" and are unnatural. Before Bousfield says "mommy I want to go on the big ride", he says "I war with nature, violent bureaucracy". All of this societal stigma about people with different sexualities makes the transsexuals feel like they are trapped in a cage, and they want to get out. Bousfield plays a transsexual character here who thinks that music could be a possible way to deal with this depressing reality of being unfairly discriminated for being a different sexuality. He wants this to be the night for the cage to crack wide open so he can freely express himself. There is a lot of analysis that can go into Cracknight, but I wanted to give some background on why I included the background video/an idea of what it means.

For anyone wondering about the lyrics:

Where are you?
Is it dark or is it clean?
Wish we knew
Wish we knew anything
Can you see the sky?
Is it blue or concrete?
Is it violent?
Or slow bureaucracy?
Cracknight
Crack night wide open
I war with nature
Violent bureaucracy
Mommy I want to go on the big ride

Note: This is a cut version. The full version of the video shows that the writing on the paper becomes faster and uglier, etc.

Note 2: Although the author of the song is still the same person as Nero's Day At Disneyland, Cracknight was released from the alias Lauren Bousfield.
