Eclipse (8 or 9?)
I say 9 quite quickly for this song. It's incredibly dense and those triplet-to-hand patterns are way too tricky to be an 8. This is definitely comparable to Famouz.

Re: Eclipse (8 or 9?)
One of the toughest factors to determine difficulty is content versus length. In this particular instance, Eclipse is only 44 seconds long, which makes it hard to judge an initial rating.
A huge thing to consider about Eclipse is that it holds an average NPS over 10. However, the NPS comes from the triplet 16ths to triples. In terms of pace, it's constant. Without the 16th triplet to hands (say they were jumps, for example), the file would have nothing more than fifthlet 16ths into jumps, which would be fitting for a high 7/low 8. Are six triplets of 16ths to hands worth the nearly one point spike in difficulty? This could be a very subjective battle - I personally say this is fitting as a high 8. |

Re: Eclipse (8 or 9?)
I feel this one is low 9.
Eclipse has over 10 average NPS, but In The Wind (Which is rated as 9, and its song length is as long as Eclipse) has about 9.4 average NPS. Eclipse also has some tricky parts like other short 9s, so I think it should be 9. |

Re: Eclipse (8 or 9?)
9 even though it's short it has some pretty weird parts with the triplets. Very low 9 nonetheless. And what takumi said

Re: Eclipse (8 or 9?)
I feel that it's a 9, on par with the other short 9 stuff. Perhaps the easiest of them all, but only slightly. It needs you to be rather faster than any 8.

I vote 9. i can see the resemblance to famouz, although this is easier (and famouz is a heavy get...) the middle section w/ the 16ths going into hands put it over the top for me

Re: Eclipse (8 or 9?)
I know this is a thread bump (I just discovered this song a couple days ago), but I also feel this song should have been a 9. If there weren't hands with the triplets, then I probably wouldn't feel so strongly about this difficulty change. It's a tricky song, and I don't think the fact that it's shorter than a minute should have so much weight on it.

Re: Eclipse (8 or 9?)
Personally, I think Eclipse, at 44 seconds, is more dense that Teh Tricky Techno, a 9 which is about the same length (46 seconds) and similar bpm range. Eclipse only has 29 less notes but unlike Tricky Techno, it features complex patterns such as mini jumptrills and multipletriplets that transition into hands, which can throw you off guard. On a subjective note, I can easily AAA most 9's now whereas Eclipse i have an average run of 7-8 goods with 1-2 misses / boos. Lots of areas are insanely easy to split and drop goods, or misread and drop boos / misses, and with a bpm similar to a lot of 9's, i think this qualifies for one of the lowest 9's.

mid 9 at the least this is a horrible misrating haha - the transitions on the 16th triplets are very fast for a 9! |
