Temporary FAQ (Lag issues? Look here!)
Since the return of FFR, there have been many questions floating around. Here is a guide to everything you need to know.
OMG FFR IS BACK I'M SO HAPPY!. If you'd like to talk about the return of FFR, please do it here. Official "hey look the site is back" thread Why can't I get into chat? Since the return there have been a lot of bugs. A few things currently not working: Multiplayer, Video Chat, Profile Chat and Tokens. To keep up to date with everything that is fixed and being worked on, check here: Change Log and Change Log Discussion Help! The game isn't registering my keytaps! For this problem, make sure you are setting your speed mod correctly. Your speed mod must end in 5 or 0 (1.0, 1.25, 1.875, etc.) and you have to click "Set Speed" for it to work. Another issue may be your key setup. Some setups will register three or more taps at once. If you're using something like askl and you find yourself having issues with taps not registering on a proper speed mod, try using another setup. If you have StepMania, you can check if your keys work together by going into Options -> Test Input. Try hitting all 4 keys together and see if they show up at the same time. I can't play there's too much lag! There seems to be an issue for many users with Flash 10. If you know how to downgrade, you can try downgrading to Flash 8 or 9. If that's not an option for you, there's the option of using a standalone flash player. Also, try to optimize performance on your computer by closing out excess programs. Reducing visual effects on your computer will also help, like on windows 7 switch it to classic mode. There's also gamebooster that you can try out to optimize your game play. This basically puts you computer in "gaming mode" you can find it here http://www.iobit.com/gamebooster.html Where do I get a standalone and how do I use it? *Check out the new updated standalone guide HERE You can get a flash 8 standalone here Flash 8 Flash 9 here Flash 9 When you open up the flash player go to file then open and put in the link for the engine you'd like to use. Legacy engine http://www.flashflashrevolution.com/ffrndanotherway.swf Velocity engine http://www.flashflashrevolution.com/~velocity/ffr_Wide.swf How do I login on a standalone? Video demo http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1UB2Eqt9YvA Legacy Engine For you to be logged in on the standalone player, you must log in on internet explorer and click remember me. Before doing this, make sure you go into the security settings on IE and uncheck the box that says Enable Protected Mode. Once you uncheck that, hit apply then close out IE. Reopen IE and log into FFR, making sure you check "Remember Me". Then, reopen your standalone. You should now be logged in. Velocity Engine you can use the same method as the legacy engine or you can use the built in log in that will appear when you load the engine. Can I play MP with a standalone? yes, on the legacy engine http://www.flashflashrevolution.com/ffrndanotherway.swf I had a subscription during the time FFR was down, What do I do? Please refer to this thread for subscription time you lost: Subscriptions Help! I can't get on my main account. For information on how to retrieve lost information on your account, please refer to this thread: Can't get into your account? My score didn't record! For unrecorded scores, take a screen shot of the score and post it here: Unrecorded Scores thread How do I take a screen shot? Mac users: - Command + Shift + 3: Takes a screenshot of the entire screen, and saves the image to your desktop. From there, you can upload it to a site like imgur.com and crop it if necessary. Windows users: - Press the print screen button (For some laptops you may need to hold the FN key while pressing print screen). From there, open Paint (or another image editing program) and paste your image in Paint. If you'd like, you can resize it within Paint at this time. From there, you can upload it to a site like imgur.com and crop it (if you haven't done so). I made a thread but it got locked, why? Since the return, there have been many repeat threads of questions that were already asked. Make sure to check and see if the question you have has already been asked. If you can not find an answer to your question and your thread is locked without answer, try private messaging a staff member. I hope this covers any questions you may have. The staff is working very hard on bringing FFR back to its former glory. If there are any questions that were not answered here, don't hesitate to ask other users/staff for help. But please be patient and try to avoid making threads for questions that have already been asked. If you're a returning member of FFR, welcome back! If you are a new user, welcome to FFR - come say hi in the forums.

The subscription issue for people with expired subbies has been fixed (should be), just so you're aware.
Nice FAQ too. |

Re: Temporary FAQ (check here before making a thread)
You may also want to include for HP G50 laptop users that to take a screenshot, it's different. You have to hold down fn, then do print screen.

@ Dossar: if the G50 keyboards have the function key, it's a similar process to screenshot with a laptop.

Re: Temporary FAQ (check here before making a thread)
I have to hold FN while I take a ss on my lappy so it's second nature to me I didn't think about it. I added that to the op.

Re: Temporary FAQ (check here before making a thread)
Keytaps on ASKL register all at the same time, yet when I'm playing songs, I get keytap fails during runs.
There could be something up with the re-coding or something, because I'm missing things that I usually wouldn't miss. EDIT: It happens randomly throughout any song. My keys will just stop registering altogether.

Re: Temporary FAQ (check here before making a thread)
Its nice finally having you guys back its been such a long time, I'm only having 1 problem thus far though, I forgot my main account but finally remembered it but when I login and go to play the game it keeps bringing me back to my secondary account that I made cause I forgot my info, and now everytime I go to play it sets my credits back to 327 and all my scores/info back to the secondary account rather than the main account that I just logged into, so maybe some help with that? I even tried closing out IE and restarting but still continuing to push me back to my secondary account even though I already logged out and re-logged on my main

I'm not sure exactly what you're asking here. It's a standalone player anything that can be run through flash 8 should run on it. I have flash 10 still on my computer so if I run a flash game it's running through 10 on my browser but if I run it through the standalone it's running through flash 8 basically. FFR and flash 10 seem to conflict on most computers which is why you use the standalone unless you want to completely downgrade. |

Re: Temporary FAQ (check here before making a thread)
Hey, I'm using the standalone to play FFR, yet I still lag, as in it skips a lot of frames. At first I thought it was only when there were a lot of arrows, but even when there's only an arrow on the screen it'll lag, and even when there's a huge clump it'll sometimes be just fine, although I generally lag.
Whyyy? :P |

If you're using flash 8 or 9 then it's not a flash issue. There has to be something with your PC. I remember I started having issues at one point before the site went down and it turned out I had some trojans or some crap on my comp. Once I got those cleared out it ran fine. So if you haven't run a virus scan in a while do so. If you don't have one avg is free and works pretty well. Otherwise the only thing I can tell you is try making sure you aren't running any programs in the background while you play FFR. Use ctl alt del to end any processes that you don't need. Computers tend to run processes in the background that you don't even know are running. Also set your computer for best performance this takes away all the pretty junk but you're computer will run more smoothly. |
