Re: Queue/Batch Discussion Thread v2 (Submission email changed)
Yea the last batch was sent early at 100 files, and I sent mine in for the tourny contest a couple of days after. There's no way they'll be judged before the official.

Re: Queue/Batch Discussion Thread v2
I have a problem with large batches like these because of the shortage of judges as well as the recent tardiness. It has come to the case where being late with notes is no longer "it sucks, but it can happen", but instead "it is expected".
A batch of 120 files, if there are 6 judges, will require 2 groups of 3 judges each having 60 files. If what happened in the hard songs batch (many marathon files) occurs this batch, notes could be absurdly late again. I even made a thread to track the progress of the judges, but it only got responses from myself and Choofers (who were both on time). Instead, the batch should be judged each month. This way not only are there smaller batches, but stepartists can change their files up and submit to the next period if needed. The first submission for the current regular batch was in July, and it is now October. That's a 3 month difference, and in that time the files submitted in July could have received notes. |

I think something more like a bi-monthly thing, to coincide with the SAP maybe? |

Re: Queue/Batch Discussion Thread v2
Problem is there isn't an abundance of judges. I think once a month would be better, because granted, while judges might need to do notes more frequently, at-least there wouldn't be as many files for them to judge. This 'bi-monthly' test that has been going on for the past few months proves that the batch will not fill every month. (Which is good)
Keep SAP for every other month, but open batch and require judging every month. I'd guess that judges will be reviving 20-30 files after a few months of this method.

Re: Queue/Batch Discussion Thread v2
i dont think you know what the bi monthly thing is. that just relates to how many files can be submitted. it has nothing to do with judging.
what they are saying is that judges should actually just judge whatever files are in the batch every two months. i agree its better than just setting a high limit and waiting until its reached to judge because there is no reason to do that at all.

I'm saying every month, regardless of how many files have been submitted would be judged, instead of letting them pile up to 120. That way judges don't have to have a huge load every other month. I mean hey, if you disagree that's cool. But I'm helping trying to resolve the issue Dossar brought up.

Re: Queue/Batch Discussion Thread v2
In the current situation with the shortage of judges I would say a batch every month would work better. The size is smaller and only 3 to 4 judges would be needed.
There were only around 20-30 files in the first month of submissions, and I'm worried about the 120 file size because of how tardy the recent batches were |

Re: Queue/Batch Discussion Thread v2
considering the process of people in charge collecting the files and then sending them out to proper judges and then waiting for the judges to send back notes takes a long time (usually a week or more maybe even), i think judging a batch every 6-8 weeks would be better
give or take 1 or 2 weeks of organizing/non-judging downtime you have 4-6 weeks for the judges to get their notes in |
