What to do in a city
I'm going to Boston for the next few years to work on my PhD, and everybody I tell that to has the same reaction:
"omg Boston that'll be so much fun there's so much to do you'll have a blast" Most of the time they leave out the specifics. But in all honesty, what is there to do in a city that does not include - Alcohol - Spending money - People I feel like this community may be able to relate to my sentiments better than my IRL friends would. |

Re: What to do in a city
I don't know about Boston, but in Chicago there are nice bike paths? Maybe just one that I can think of...The path that goes down the lakeshore. If you have a bike, maybe you can go biking! (But then again, I don't know if there are any good bike trails around there).

Sporting events, live shows (music, theatre), museums, art galleries, aquarium, annual events (eg: pax east), historic places, unique clubs and lessons that small cities won't have...you could probably spend every evening doing something different.

Re: What to do in a city
IMO Boston is pretty boring compared to many other big cities. I only went there for Pax East + a few famous restaurants. Everything closes so damn early and there isn't a whole lot of epic scenery or anything. It's clean, I guess. There are a couple cool museums.
Cities can get pretty lonely unless you're with the right people, then everything is pretty fun no matter what you're doing. Personally, I'm always on the prowl for interesting/new places to try food. But someone who's actually from Boston will be able to give more specific advice -- YMMV. |

Re: What to do in a city
Go see a play, go shopping, go on a day trip, visit a museum, there's plenty to do, you just have to look for it.
And make sure your room has a bathtub; it'll help. |

No, math.
Also, the traffic was insanely slow coming back home because of the following incident: |

Re: What to do in a city
Ahahahahaha
I've been to Boston and only 4 persons I met there weren't assholes (and they were employees, they probably were just paid to be nice), so as far as I'm concerned I had a terrible experience =( I say just walk around, enter random shops and places, ask locals over there, that's what's fun when visiting some place imo! It's an adventure~

boston was hella fun when I went. been 3 times. people were nice. people at pax east however were pretty anti-social and didn't want to talk to anyone
met two dudes from quebec on my way there too.
