Badge System Rework (WIP) [OPEN DISCUSSION]
I've copied the rough draft of the spreadsheet into a google doc to allow anyone with the link (posted below) to comment on the system and I encourage that if you have something you want to say, say it; don't be shy!
This project is for the community and in my opinion the best way to get something really structurally sound for the community is to have the community input their thoughts and concerns. You can read and comment on the rough draft here: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1...it?usp=sharing I look forward to the input and suggestions because I've personally wanted to see a better reason why badges are on FFR.

Re: Badge System Rework (WIP) [OPEN DISCUSSION]
I'm okay with the input you provided.
I am not okay with the personal attacks that you keep implementing in any post directed to me YoshL. Stop doing it and move past this, seriously. I am posting the messages to show unprovoked aggression from you and not me. Seriously, I'm done with fighting with you. Fyi I did not add the normal token section into the doc, but the people who have access to the spreadsheet knows that normal tokens are in consideration (because one can only suggest, not implement).

Re: Badge System Rework (WIP) [OPEN DISCUSSION]
so let me say this.
your attitude and the way you post is infuriating. When you decided to announce that you've got a secret project that you were working on exclusively and that all would be revealed in due time that would address normal tokens, imagine what the rest of staff thought. Now fastforward to now, where you're all of a sudden like "oh look this is such a good community involving everyone thing that i'm showcasing!" and literally, your ideas are like "we should do achievements for doing things in ffr, like, stepping files! and having lots of posts! and for being a member for a long time! yeah!". So immediately, commenting on the fact that you thought you were addressing normal tokens is needed, and frankly I'm pretty mad that you had the gall to insist that your "plan" dealt with tokens at all. The jab of "nice job keeping this secret earlier" is 100% warranted, especially since you don't even apologize for this lol. Honestly, I felt like in the 10 minutes I took to reply to things, I output as much effort as you did coming up with the whole entire thing, which is a mad joke for you to be angry at me for being harsh with what I say about your plan. This ain't TWG, but you backpedaled so hard from this being a secret personal project, and you look so bad doing it right now. The personal attacks are what they are. The comments address your behavior, and how you've done pretty much nothing to remedy anything, and you deleting the comments because they're "personal attacks" just means that you think you're doing nothing wrong, which is pretty damn wrong lol So yeah. Good job taking absolutely none of the criticism and suggestions that I listed in the document. Congratulations. |

I do not want this thread derailed from the OP; there is still a lot of ground to cover with this idea and the best way of getting that ground covered is to have the community give its input to help develop something to benefit FFR (if it even becomes a thing).

Re: Badge System Rework (WIP) [OPEN DISCUSSION]
Honestly though, what's the plan?
I see a document with about 3 minutes of writing in it that says nothing constructive aside from a whole bunch of pleas for "input." Also there is the [OPEN DISCUSSION] tag on the post. Should I be reading that as [DO MY JOB FOR ME] or is there more here you've worked on that is yet to be revealed? I mean I really shouldn't be talking that much, as I wasn't exactly a model staff member, but at the same time I am 100% confident I put out more work than this... ?_?

Currently I have been looking into finalizing a healthy amount of categories so that graphics can be created. Another thing that is currently being done is the requirements that unlock x badge.

Re: Badge System Rework (WIP) [OPEN DISCUSSION]
Okay so after reading it back I just realized how hostile that sounded and I didn't quite mean for it to be such a put down.
That said I'm just not really seeing any... progress. Oh. Link? Quote:
I guess I'll just shut up and wait for that to be linked.

Re: Badge System Rework (WIP) [OPEN DISCUSSION]
I don't know what the hell you really expected in here, Zenith -- you go around the forums on occasion, boasting about these super secret projects that you're working on that are going to benefit the community, and then when you finally unveil something, it's nothing more than a blank sheet telling the community to come up with ideas.
Just because you have something that is intended to be for the community doesn't mean you get to toot your horn about something awesome and then present almost nothing -- it's barely even an acceptable proof of concept for something that you've been talking about for some time. In order for any sort of ideas to come into fruition with reasonable consideration, you need to at least put forth something that indicates that you have a path to pave forward. The categories that you have put forth are completely useless in their own right and are not even worth shooting for: the community itself is too small to appreciate any sort of functional change that you're suggesting here, and your idea is certainly not going to increase the number of users that come to the site on its own. You don't explain the concept of "social status", which already sounds like a bad idea. You don't clarify the "content creation", nor do you make any sort of effort to try to segregate the content creation; two obtainable titles certainly have separated difficulty in that one would more than likely produce a simfile than a song, and putting those on the same level is ridiculous. You don't qualify a user event, or the effort required to achieve a badge for the such, and that alone goes to show that it's a bad idea: a half-assed event does not deserve to be accredited in the same way as someone who hosts a very successful, multi-division tournament with everything done on time. TWG is a community game that is outside of the scope of FFR and should not be rewarded as an achievement, especially given the type of environment the game fosters; this is not a negative thing towards TWG, but a negative point towards the lack of effort and sight put forth in this idea. The second half of your post, the "subcategories", don't even explain what they are subcategories of - in fact, they simply look to be a piece of the tournament/division achievements, which again, is simply not clarified. To me, this post looks like a pile of gibberish and nothing more - it's data with no information. EDIT: also, i'm honestly not fazed by the fact that you have some sort of informational spreadsheet, because if it was of any sort of relevance or supplemental in any sort of way, it'd have been posted by now, and opting out of showing that really doesn't help your case at all Last edited by TC_Halogen; 01-5-2016 at 07:44 PM.. |

Re: Badge System Rework (WIP) [OPEN DISCUSSION]
well isn't that the problem? zenith first says this whole project is a secret
then he posts only "part" of the project and is like "hey look at this work that i put into this community project", and leaves everyone else to only assume what they can, that he's a sack of horse dung and says "don't worry i still have this secret part that i still haven't shown anyone else and still am not going to show anyone else yet" show your god damn work before you yell at us for assuming shit. #transparancy |

Re: Badge System Rework (WIP) [OPEN DISCUSSION]
Honest input, I guess...?
I think for a "badge" system of sorts, it would be unique ones. Y'know, like a one time thing that you can get. I mean, most of the badges RIGHT NOW are like that, except for that tier thing and whatever else. I think that'll make badges more interesting. |
