Re: jTWG LXV: POSTGAME
Hey.
I want all the chatter that's being directed at Caverino to stop. Feel free to discuss the game at your lesiure, but if I see one more post directed at Caverino reguarding any of the issues that came up between her and Gun or her and YoshL I will start handing out 3 day bans. This includes snide side comments and anything clever meant to subvert what I mentioned above. I've had enough. I am dealing with this issue with Caverino on a personal basis and the constant berating of her or her gameplay is not helping.

Re: jTWG LXV: POSTGAME
After reviewing all the viewpoints here, I feel like at the very least there should be a PSA on aggressive playing here. I'm not sure the extreme reaction to anyone involved was justified, however, we obviously don't want anything like this to happen again and it would be nice to have something concrete to refer to.
----------------------------------- A PSA on Aggressive Play in TWG We all know that TWG is not a pleasant game at times. After all, everyone has to make some very personal judgments about the people they're playing with, and people are going to be very wrong before it's all over (or at least told as much). While on a tactical level, it might seem worthwhile to push people out of their comfort zone by antagonizing or insulting them, most of the time pissing people off will make them want to lynch you, have you force-replaced, or banned from playing. While aggression is a natural part of a TWG, keep in mind that it is possible to be forceful without being brutal. Finding the fine line dividing the two is key if you want to play aggressively. Sure, TWG is just a game, and you shouldn't hold attacks on your playing against each other, but attacks on the person can cross the line. Upsetting people for no evident reason – or for "psychological advantage" – may help you win in the short run, but will most likely ensure that you will not be asked to play again. Also, in addition to basic standards of decency, there are site rules to follow as well. Post offensive or discriminatory remarks about race, ethnicity, religion, sex, gender identity, sexual orientation, physical ability, etc. and you may face not only consequences within this community, but site-wide as well. This forum is not actively policed, but anyone who feels that site rules have been infringed is encouraged to report said post, of course; however, it is probably a good idea to contact the host of the game before you do so, so that the necessary actions can be taken to ensure the game keeps running smoothly. A basic rule of thumb is to attack the play, and not the person making the play. Sure, slipups will happen, because things get heated sometimes. What will not be tolerated is deliberate and/or sustained personal attacks. That's not playing the game. That's just being mean. Thank you for your time, and happy playing! ~Kai

Re: jTWG LXV: POSTGAME
/me gives funnygurl a brief, acknowledging glance
Also, are we intending to have another jTWG soon? Based on how this game went, I think we might want to reconsider how we ease people into the game; even if TWG is a game requiring a degree of emotional manipulation, we don't want to scare people off and be too severe on them. Even that aside, I feel like YoshL went into the game not knowing what was expected of him, since we didn't really have any particular goals in mind about how to teach the newer Players. I think we should be a bit more organised for our next jTWG and, if we choose to have the same formula of putting a few veterans into a game of newer Players, probably have one or two more to add a bit of spice. sunfan mentioned that we try out the coaching system to me in a Skype chat and I think it might be nice to try out. It gives new Players a chance to use veteran opinions in their own way so that we can help shape their experiences without being overwhelming. Not sure if there are enough people interested in actively coaching though, but I think it's a decent idea. Are we intending on having another jTWG soon in the first place? Or are we deciding to let those jTWGers interested join a TWG if they so choose?

Re: jTWG LXV: POSTGAME
I think we should run a few more jTWGs.
I think I like this setup, but it needs tweaking. The vets need to be given defined roles to operate under. They also need to understand that they are in the game to teach and represent TWG first. winning comes second. Also phases need to end on time. This game was particularly bad in that reguard.

Re: jTWG LXV: POSTGAME
If this is what I think it means, then I disagree. Might as well include an Innocent Child in the setup for every jTWG.

Re: jTWG LXV: POSTGAME
I actually liked watching (and eventually playing in) the jTWG. If I can ever participate in another game that would be sweet

Re: jTWG LXV: POSTGAME
no, i don't think manti means literal roles but like something more like
"The job of the vet is not to make any defined pushes, but to act as a sounding board for players, resonating with advice about opinions and plays" or something similar to that |

Re: jTWG LXV: POSTGAME
I REALLY don't like Trevor's computer/keyboard, so for now I'll just say that I'd love to play in another jtwg game.
