Re: 7th Official Tournament
question because I'm a nub:
how exactly is one's division placement decided? I don't wanna sandbag by accident. my average rank is garbo |

The Tournament admins do it by hand so no worries.

Re: 7th Official Tournament
I'm gonna guess a placement in D2 because of my massive skilldrop. QQ .-.

Placements are not affected my current skill level. What I mean by that is that they are going off your level ranks.

Re: 7th Official Tournament
I've been practicing really hard, I hope I get D2. I've been in D1 so long.

Re: 7th Official Tournament
Something neat that could be done in order to minimize complaints w/ respect to placements during a tourney would be to create six tokens, with one unique token given out to the top 8 of each division. Anyone placed a division higher would auto-receive the unique tokens given out in lower divisions at the end of the tourney. e.g. anyone placed in D2 receives the top 8 D1 token, anyone in D4 receives the top 8 tokens for D1-D3. Would prevent sandbagging as players would have the motivation to try harder in order to get placed in the highest division they possibly can.
The idea could prob use a bit of tweaking but the gist of it is there. |

also everyone saying that d6 has the widest range in skill is forgetting that, in all technicality, d1 ranges from people who can't pass super mario to *insert arbitrary cutoff here*

Think of that same player being put in D6A out of D6B and finishing in the bottom 50% of D6A? They automatically outclass their lower division by being put in the higher flight, which means they're doing better than at least 50% (more than likely higher, since a higher flight likely won't split evenly) of their competitors already (theoretically, as they're facing tougher opponents), plus they finished better than half of the A-flight as well. Yes, it's not much of a difference in terms of overall people beaten, but it sounds more like an accomplishment. Also, a very important point must be made here: Quote:

It applies to D5 too. I'm pretty sure my scores are below the D5 cut, but if I got placed there, in no way would it be possible to finish top 8, although the mobility is still higher than D6. Last edited by Mike Weedmark; 06-12-2012 at 10:34 PM.. |
