Re: 6th Official FFR Tournament - Signups are open!
286 Signups weeeeee, I really didn't think this one would get as big as ones prior but maybe it will.
Also, I don't know why people are making a big deal about the end of the list, yes I started some preliminary placements it's not like it's a big secret. The preliminary ones mean almost nothing, just a way to get people into smaller groups so I can look more closely at how they fit. And I'm not doing them alone, so that's just my rough draft to be compared to others and discussed. Told you, we're going to try to be as accurate as possible, but no matter what there will always be front runners and underdogs. And sorry Frankie but I'm sticking to tradition as much as possible. We were going to even stick with 5 divisions but I think with the skill curve changing so much we ~need~ the 6th division. We also dropped two rounds because 10 weeks just drags it out longer than most people care to play for (hence why I asked people during the custom tourney we just had) |

Re: 6th Official FFR Tournament - Signups are open!
i haven't played in over a month and can't AAA any FMO's and a lot of VC's please have that in mind when you are placing me in a division.
I was just about to quit for good last night, and this changed my mind.

Darkshark already made a thread about this for his own shirts he'll be making at the end of this year (he also made a set in 08-09 for top 1000), you can but one through him when the time comes

I hadn't played in about 3/4 months after having Saphira and it didn't take long to get the skill back at all. I wont be factoring in "skill drops" for the official, I can't. Just within the 2 weeks before the official starts substantial progress can be made in playing if you train for it. Then being that the official is 2 months long there's room to progress. Let me tell you something, in the last official I was put into D2 as a newbie with next to no AAAs and I think my highest was a 4 at the time. I fought like hell in that tourney and made it to 13th place. Only reason I got knocked out there was my power supply to my computer died at the start of the round and I didn't get the new one till the end of the round (go figure) Basically my point is if you were capable of those scores before you will be again. |

Re: 6th Official FFR Tournament - Signups are open!
Exactly my current situation. I'm having a lot of trouble AAA'ing VC's and FMO's recently. I'd ask the same thing, but I don't think they'll put us in a lower division then our stats display

Re: 6th Official FFR Tournament - Signups are open!
I can't tell anyone what division they will be in right now. Like I said in the previous post, we're going to be looking over placements carefully. I'll let you guys know when they are finalized. (Yes I know there are a few obvious placements like Dossar and AJ and such)

Re: 6th Official FFR Tournament - Signups are open!
Do people lose the ability to read once the official starts? My god - I'm not even a staff member of this tournament and I'm losing my mind just watching half of you people post.
People don't even bother to read basic rules right on the OP; there's no implication of accounting for skill drops because it's a liability for that division - you're not going to get a free pass in your division when your skill comes back, you're going to be placed where you belong. If you're not capable of performing to your previous skill, play the game more and get it back. Do you guys realize how rude it is to be asking for accommodations when other people in your division are playing fairly, with no accommodation whatsoever? New players who haven't frequented the forums are the only users exempt from asking questions about the basics of the tournament because they haven't been in something like this before. There's upwards of 250 signups already and you don't ever see that many people in a regular tournament, which implies that some players are coming out of hiding, and others are just trying to enter the tournament. And at everyone else: you guys need to stop trying to influence how the tournament is going to be run. I've seen numerous occasions of people wanting raw scoring for the tournament - yes, it's the preferred scoring choice for most tournaments, but it's not traditional for FFR. All of you guys should share the excitement of a few people who are genuinely stoked about this tournament returning. |

AJ & Kayla - I'm all for Tradition guys, trust me, I'm not complaining whatsoever, I'm so happy you guys have taken the time to bring back one of FFR's most eminent and prestigious events. It's always a pleasure to compete in the biggest tournament on this site. I, in my previous post, was just suggesting things. Whether they happened here now or later. It was just an opinion on all of that. Regardless of that being said, I'm very stoked for this, and I'm even more stoked to claim myself a top FFR Player playing in the toughest division right now. As I said to Kayla, I may not be one of the best in the division, but I will fight like OWA had said and Byron. Training will commence, and scores will be posted. In the end, winning and placing is all that matters. |

Re: 6th Official FFR Tournament - Signups are open!
Really I look at the official as a push to get better. Like I had mentioned in my previous post about me in the last one (and you know it frankie lol) I had just started playing again after years of not playing and never really being an avid player to begin with. Went from being a D1 player to damn near D3 over the course of the tourney.

Re: 6th Official FFR Tournament - Signups are open!
Hahaha a lot of people here need to relax. It's only a tournament, so have fun with it.
Think of your level ranks as a resume. If someone is capable of doing one thing a few years ago, that will be taken into consideration. AJ and Kayla know what they're doing so let them do their jobs. Two questions: a) What do the medals look like? Are we allowed to know or is this part of the surprise? b) How many people per round will be eliminated? This obviously depends on how many people sign up, but will it be half the number each round? EDIT: That equal chance is given by letting those that get 50bil Overall GT or 1bil Daily Overall GT win vrofl. It doesn't necessarily have to be won via tournament. |

The medal thing might be changing slightly actually, I have to talk to Zaggy a little further about this. The eliminations are all going to depend on the signups. The only thing I can tell you that's set in stone is final round will be 3 people, 2nd to final will be 5 and 3rd to final (vrofl) will be 8. Other than that I wont know till signups are over. |

I wish I still had my previous skill, but sadly not even close. Hopefully the tournament helps me get it back. Should be fun either way 8)
