Re: The Speedrunning Thread
THAT ENDING
Damn, must-watch race. Commentary was top-notch as well. Sometimes races don't really add much, or even detract from the runs... this though, was legendary D e e R F o r C e

Re: The Speedrunning Thread
Well that was an incredible race...I knew Ivan was good but huge props to him winning the race. Wow, epic finish! (only 70k viewers damb...guess it was the time slot that made the race suffer cuz it really should've been more hyped )

Re: The Speedrunning Thread
That had to be the most intense and entertaining ending of the race.

Re: The Speedrunning Thread
Wow.
I've never watched that game be run before, but...that was amazing. Just how quickly they stole/lost leads was amazing and I've never heard any better commentary for a speedrun. Also, explain the animals. I put $50 towards killing them and I didn't notice it.

Re: The Speedrunning Thread
Pretty much at the end of Super Metroid, if you go down to where you get the bombs during the escape sequence, you can open a path to have the animals that you come across during the game escape. (Those flamingo and monkey aliens.)
If you ignore them, you left them to die and killed them. |

Was just able to caught the last 3 minutes of the race, but I'll watch it from the beginning for sure.

Re: The Speedrunning Thread
if you've never seen or played SM then killing the animals won't be noticeable. However if you save them it's noticeable, by probably 40ish seconds, which is dumb for a speedrun.
That's why most people go for kill the animals, it's a stupid waste of time and they don't actually die anyway they just leave the planet from the side you can't see. That race was great, and i'm glad krauser got the good MB cutscene and metroid skip. :> I'm also glad Zoast got SSRTA WR by one second, that's pretty sick too. Golden and Sinister did great with the commentary. Very well-spoken. SM best speedgame ever.

Re: The Speedrunning Thread
^this so much. Why I started running it haha. So much fun to play and to watch. I'll have to watch the run later tomorrow once the vod is up. Does anyone know how long it takes?
EDIT: never mind, it's already up.

Re: The Speedrunning Thread
Yeah, Go1den and sinister1 were amazing on commentary. Really made the run spectacular. I could feel gari's discomfort when the crowd would clap for his skill, since he knew his run was bad. Also grats to zoast for the realest WR ever
