MKII's MP Tourney
I'm not sure on how this will work out or not, but here is my proposal.
I'm looking at hosting an MP tournament here sometime within the next month, so let's say November 16. The event will take place in the universal MP room. As every tournament works, everyone will be broken up into divisions. Here is how I will do things. YOU MUST HAVE 250 OR MORE GAMES PLAYED. IF YOUR OVERALL RANK IS..... 35,000 Or higher.... Division one 25,999 to 10,000.... Division two 9,999 to 5,000.... Division three 4,999 to 1,000.... Division four 999 to 750.... Division five 749 to 500.... Division six 499 or lower.... Division seven It will be based on a bracket.. each division gets three qualifying charts they need to complete. If you are interested... go ahead and reply with something telling me that you're in. I'll start taking users down who are interested, but I am limiting the entries to the first 60 players. Rules will be plain and simple; 1. No cheating. If you are cheating or using a bot/aid you are automatically disqualified. 2. Have fun with it! This isn't an official event, but come out, compete a little and call it good! Don't get too serious with things. 3. No crude behaviour in the lobby. I and a few others will need to constantly monitor things and announce rounds. 4. You will have TWO MINUTES to report into your room. Otherwise, your opponent will win by default. You will move on to the loser's bracket for second chance. 5. Arrive on time! I hope to start this tournament by 1 PM Central time. (Noon Mountain, 11 AM Pacific, 2 PM Eastern.) Thanks and post thoughts! --

Re: MKII's MP Tourney
Will people stop hating on this thread? This forum has seen far worse than this. At least he wants to set a tournament up.
@MKII: Placing divisions based on overall ranks will create HUGE misplacements, because overall ranks are solely based on the amount of time spent on the game, and while this can very roughly translate to skill level, it's nowhere near enough for accurate division placements. (For example, I'm upper D2 in skill, but this would place me in D4. For a more extreme example, EtienneSM is D7, but would be placed in D2.) To run a tournament, you really need to be a veteran, or at least have a veteran as co-host, so you can see people's levelranks and place using those. Division placement needs to be done on a case-by-case basis, and there is no one formula that is a catch-all. Also, as has been stated before, this must be placed in the tournament forum and be approved by a tournament moderator. As it stands, any tournament moderator would reject this tournament. One last thing: Two minutes is too short, five is better.

Re: MKII's MP Tourney
Another suggestion: Try not to plan an unofficial tournament at the same time the official will be running.
Also @ Fission: I had nothing to do with him posting in this thread.. "get off my nuts."

My nuts.
MKII, I like the thought, but more needs to be put into the idea before throwing it out there.

Just because I watch a TV show judges that I have asperger's syndrome.
Seems legit. I'll do some more structuring on this.

Re: MKII's MP Tourney
I think you have collected more than enough valuable information on this topic. Of course, be sure to take notes on the functioning and structure of past singleplayer and multiplayer tournaments, as well as reading the stickies and guidelines of the FFR Tournaments Subforum. If you ever need assistance in regards to the viewing of levelranks yourself, please feel free to contact me at any time. I look forward to see what you can organize in the near future

Re: MKII's MP Tourney
Have it setup somewhat like how the officials are set up. Base it off of what range someone can fc, and their highest AAA. It's not 100% accurate obviously but it's better than using overall rank.

Also, unrelated note, this thread should've been put in the FFR Tournaments Subforum area so an admin/moderator could approve this. |
