I probably understand why the jacks system is so messed up.
FFR doesn't arrange its arrows perfectly. Here's proof.
You see those 4 up arrow jacks? Well, the first 3 are finely alligned, but the fourth one looks a little too close, so it would go like this: da-da-dada even it should really go like this: da-da-da-da Same thing with Turkish March. See the down-left jumping jacks? The first 2 are finely alligned (again) but the 3rd one seems too close. In FFR it would go like this: da-dada but the real stepfile is: da-da-da Last edited by BPM guy; 02-8-2007 at 04:14 PM.. |

Re: I probably understand why the jacks system is so messed up.
no duh. the reasoning behind the jack glitch is WELL WELL WELL known.
It is because FFR runs in 30 frames per second. So the converter that we use to convert from .dwi files into .ffr files... takes the note and puts it to the nearest frame. which causes issues with jacks in making them not uniform in distance between them. but that only addresses the issue that you brought up above... that isn't why the jack syndrome exists. it exists because the timing window isn't coded completely correctly. if the timing windows overlap on 2 notes, the early window of the 2nd note takes precedence over the late window of the 1st note. which is why you have to hit jacks early on most instances, because the proper/late windows aren't there.

Would turning on the mini mod remove the jack problem? Does the mini mod make the hitboxes smaller as well as the arrows? Because if it makes the hitboxes smaller, it's possible that they might not overlap.

no mods would help jack syndrome in any way.
also...what you posted affects everything in FFR, not just jacks. It's just not nearly as noticeable on other stuff. 180 BPM stream is actually da--da-da--da-da--da-da. It's just way too fast to actually notice.

Re: I probably understand why the jacks system is so messed up.
FFR staff shouldn't just say "sorry but nothing can help cuz it's just messed up". I really think FFR should make it's own simfile making program. It could be more easy to make and more convenient and will actually show you what it will look like on FFR not Stepmania or DWI. If people did this then I'm sure there would be lots more simfiles created and submitted into FFR. The same for SpinItUp. This would also help the jacks not be so messed up (if you made it right).

Did you even read what tass said? Don't even answer that. The game runs at 30 frames per second. You can't hit a note in between a frame, so it rounds the note to the nearest frame. A new simfile making program would be a complete waste of time to code. There are so many better uses of the coders' time.
