Default old people and the internet

K, so I play Bridge (the old fashioned card game that in my mind is only played by bored, rich ladies) on pogo games.

A typical, popular game site where a lot of people spend time and money. (I don't spend money.)

And I swear, the insults that come from the 70 year old + players rival any 12 year old Halo player's, women or men. They're not full of swear words generally, but oh are they biting. They are the most impatient, obnoxious people I still interact with over a network today.

Its like, if you're old, the internet is still a place where you aren't really part of society, ergo all the societal rules and nicities still don't apply like they would in real life or something.

Funny thing is, 6, 7 years ago, it wouldn't have phased me. Now, when I guess I expect better of most people, even online. Those bridge players still shock me.
