Re: Zedd (feat. Foxes) - Clarity (Assertive Remix)
i didn't know dubstep could be so fuckin intense
This makes my remix of this song look...passable. In all seriousness, I can tell that either you or Kors K is going to win this. Although I wouldn't be surprised at all if Kors K won; at least you can say that you entered. And I'm not entering this competition because even though I'm pretty good at this remix thing, I know I'm not good enough to compete with you or Kors K yet. Also, the compilation my remix is going on is released after this contest's deadline, I think. P.S. i voted for both of your guy's remixes if you're wondering

Quality of the winning submission is awesome but the remix itself kinda left me bored. You still get my vote d:

Re: Zedd (feat. Foxes) - Clarity (Assertive Remix)
Agreed. The remix that won felt like it just dragged on forever, and it didn't really add anything to the song. The mastering quality is the only thing I can say is good about it, TBH.

Re: Zedd (feat. Foxes) - Clarity (Assertive Remix)
Well, I knew it wouldn't win. And I also knew the winner would be someone I've never heard of and I won't care about for a long time (That tends to be a running pattern with contests hosted by A-List Musicians and Music Producers, doesn't it? Correct me if I'm wrong).
Probably because the original song is 4 and a half minutes long. Tom Budin (the winner in question)'s remix is twice as long. Now that I think about it, this was less of a contest to see who could make the best remix of a song, and more of a contest to see who could make the best low-to-mid tempo House remix of a song (I think that was the genre Zedd was looking for, but I'm not sure). Also, why am I hearing waves in the first 2 minutes of the song? And why this song sounds like a certain someone else...to quote someone else on the song... Quote:
Now to answer another person's question. Quote:
Quote:
I give the winning song a 3/10. For a remix of Clarity, it ends up being a surprisingly generic and overly long house song. The synths aren't that impressive, it's slowly paced, it doesn't seem to build up to anything at all, and for taking the acapella and putting it in...it was put in with no edits to it at all. And I was able to tell, by listening to when the vocals were coming in and going out...it perfectly matches the original song. Here's a tip, if you're going to put in an acapella, don't try to match up the production with the acapella...try and make your song like so, then put in a part of the acapella that you think would best suit that part of the song (it doesn't have to be the first thing you hear in the acapella, it could be a phrase from the chorus or from the bridge). In Assertive's and Kors K's remixes, I heard plenty of edits in the Acapella (and in Kors K's case, taking a small sample and pitch shifting it up an entire octave). Absolute necessity when making a remix of a song. This song doesn't have much energy to it, it sounds too much like something Deadmau5 would make on one of his days off, and it never builds up to anything good. The only positive I can bring up (hi Fission) is that the Mastering quality is decent. It's not great, mind you. Just passable. Tom...when people are saying that your remix of a song is inferior to the original (which, by the way, is my opinion on your remix of Clarity), that's when you're able to tell it needs a makeover...unless you think your remix is somehow superior to all other remixes because you won a contest hosted by Zedd. For me, that doesn't count. Alex...even though you didn't win, if I was Zedd, I would have felt like it should have won. You should seek a record label. EDIT: I hate to say this, but Tom's remix is inferior to mine.

Little disappointing seeing as I really dig Shreddie Mercury's style (the winner of the Spectrum contest). Was hoping for something cooler than this winner.

Re: Zedd (feat. Foxes) - Clarity (Assertive Remix)
Tom Budin won because he utterly and thoroughly construed (not used lightly) the progressive aspect of house music which is hard as hell to achieve haha, and takes patience to appreciate. Honestly sounds like he made emphasized the progressive aspect better than i've ever heard Deadmau5 manage other than Strobe
Megamons is just 5 minutes of in your face energy from start to finish thats quite a fun listen 10/10 to both hahaha
