TWG CXXVI: Tales of FFR: Game Thread

The day opened like any other. Sunshine rained down on the city from high above, it's golden luminescence lighting up the streets. Inside their houses people began to stir, opening their windows and doors as if welcoming the brilliance from above. A small fraction of time passed and suddenly the streets were crowded with life. Merchants opened their market stands, starting the daily business routine.

All along the street, people gazed at the wares being sold. Life was merry, and not a soul had anything to worry about. Life inside the barriers was a simple one. Monsters could not penetrate the barrier surrounding the town, and as such the city had never seen Death from anything other then old age.

Today was different.

The very last market stand on the street belonged to an extremely cranky and unpredictable man named Choof. He was known as a harsh deal driver, and the purveyor of some of the rarest items one could find. The old badger had never missed a day of work that anyone could every remember. Today however, he was missing from his storefront, and the news spread like wildfire throughout the gossipy public.

"Oh my" Said a fat women laden with jewles "This is quite a pickle. I always pick up my fine wares from Choof!"

Several other people grumbled about her gaudy attire, while others wondered about the man's condition. Choof was very old, perhaps he had simply passed away in his bed.

"MOVE ALONG PEOPLE" The voice was issued from an imperial guardsman. Someone of obvious high stature or rank from the medals adorning his lapel.

"REGRETTABLY, I MUST INFORM YOU MERCHANT CHOOF HAS BEEN ATTACKED IN THE NIGHT" the guard was forced to holler over the clamor of the crowd. Instantly, they grew quiet. "Monsters?" asked one man somewhat hopefully. At least a single rouge monster could be easily dispatched by the authorities.

Since the crowd had quieted down, the guard was no longer forced to yell. Instead he responded loud enough for the community to hear. "No, merchant Choof was not attacked by a monster. He has suffered sword wounds, and his most recent shipment of goods seems to have been ransacked. He is in critical condition, but I assure you we are doing everything we can to make sure he receives proper medical treatment. This is being handled as a case of theft by most likely bandits. We formally request you to keep a close eye on your neighbors and to report any future suspicious activity directly to the authorities."

The guard walked off, leaving the crowd in shock. Violence? Here? What was this world coming to?



Choof has been attacked, but has survived!
