Re: YoshL's Tournament of Mediocrity (One Division Tournament!)
Probably going to get eliminated if I keep these first two scores, but I'm pretty satisfied with them raw score wise (aim was just above 0 since negative isn't allowed).
Surprised I got this fairly quickly! Couldn't get low scores, so I just went on a good / average binge.

Re: YoshL's Tournament of Mediocrity (One Division Tournament!)
I have the feeling my sight read blackflag on Tower would have been a AAA if I had remembered to turn down the speed mod after playing Twister. I had it turned up to play the dense upper 70s files. And an unofficial update: I am not going to post all of these, but since I am keeping track anyway I figured I might as well post one and use it to explain to anyone looking for a little something more convenient. I will be glad to explain how to set this up if anyone is interested. I sort the data by the 'Distance from average' column, which is how far each person's score is from the average. In this example if the 10 people who have submitted were the only ones in the tournament then everyone below Drizzle would need to bring their total closer to the average or face elimination. (P.S. Sorry FoxFire, I see your scores, but I am not going to redo my screenshot just to include them in the example. You are not forgotten.)

Re: YoshL's Tournament of Mediocrity (One Division Tournament!)
Shiki., nice job getting really close to the average. Not quite sure where you are getting your individual averages since they are different than what I calculated, but I believe the scoring is based on how far your total is from the average of everyone's totals. This allows you to use the lower notecount songs as an easy way to push your total closer to the average.
I previously verified that the average of totals is significantly different than the total of averages. But again, nice job getting close to the average. By my calculation your total is only 4642.9 points from the average; second closest for now. And Grr upon you pushing me far enough above the average to be out of the safe range. xD Edit: YoshL, question: You said scores below zero are not allowed, but your spreadsheet currently only calculates scores above zero. Is zero itself valid?

Re: YoshL's Tournament of Mediocrity (One Division Tournament!)
If we post a score, and then post a second score that is lower, will it be allowed to override our previous score?

Re: YoshL's Tournament of Mediocrity (One Division Tournament!)
Answering because these have been asked.
Yes. And you are also allowed to save unposted scores to post later as long as they were obtained during the round. But if you want to use a score you have already used then you must earn that score again and get a new screenshot. And on that note, this should fix my total:

Re: YoshL's Tournament of Mediocrity (One Division Tournament!)
INCOMING ROUND 1 SCORES
YoshL, just a heads up on the Current Average Total. I think your formula is a little bit off: The first part of the formula doesn't include E5 and totally misses danceguy's score. @ryuyasha: Great idea with that Distance From Average column! After I saw what you did I decided to put that in my own spreadsheet. |

Re: YoshL's Tournament of Mediocrity (One Division Tournament!)
I'm not sure what you mean by that, ryuyasha. That doesn't quite answer my question (and if it does, the way you answered it is confusing). I'm not referring to unposted scores, I'm referring to scores that are posted already -- if I actually post a score, but then post a score that is lower than my previous one, will it be counted? In most tournaments, you keep the highest score. I don't know if it's the same for this one.
EDIT: NVM, I got it. Thanks, ryu |

Thanks! I was hoping that would be useful to some peeps. Still willing to help if anyone is having trouble setting it up.

Re: YoshL's Tournament of Mediocrity (One Division Tournament!)
well, have a good average based off of the online spreadsheet, which is apparently erroneous, but whatever lol.

Re: YoshL's Tournament of Mediocrity (One Division Tournament!)
DanceGuy is raising the average by quite a bit, so that would be the thing to keep in mind until the official spreadsheet is fixed.

fixed spreadsheet stuff, if you find any more errors please tell me.
Thanks ryuyasha, the distance to average is sweet, so I set that up on the spreadsheet as well. Also, no 0 scores either. :P If there's a 0 score, you're eliminated Edit: Google docs is being stupid bear with me as i fix lol |

Re: YoshL's Tournament of Mediocrity (One Division Tournament!)
Sure, sure. And the reason I have my distance column set up as absolute value is because then I can just sort by that column, and it is pretty easy to see whether someone's total is above or below the average. Sorting by total seems to mostly work, it just makes it trickier to see who is closer rankwise when some are above and some are below.

spreadsheet is fixed, google docs dislikes keeping formulas static/dynamic at the same time for different elements (excel does it fine lmao), so i had to make a script to do it instead |

Re: YoshL's Tournament of Mediocrity (One Division Tournament!)
Put $ signs in front of the column and the row, like in my screenshot. So in yours it would be =MINUS(E13,$A$1)
The $ makes it an absolute reference, so it will not change when you sort or otherwise move cells or expand ranges and whatnot.
