so let's be clear tc_halogen is publicly admitting that: * the attitude of one person toward a staff is reason to not include a forum many users want, * the attitude of one person toward the staff is reason to go against the wishes of every other person who wants that forum this is the decisionmaking process of whether a forum is included, as outlined by tc_halogen, staff of flashflashrevolution.com: Quote:

the sole reason your superior (zageron) has given in support of its exclusion is this: this is the reason we do not have a fitness subforum: "the general concern is it turning into something that grows inactive" now, WHAT IS WRONG WITH THIS REASON first, the staff implicitly accept numerous existing subforums which are "inactive", among them * birthdays * AMA * spin it up * radio * bits and bytes * literature * even critical thinking, to an extent, since it receives maybe one thread per day second, even if it were inactive, the forum could be deleted, although it's not clear why this would need to happen in other words, the staff's reasoning would only make sense if posts or forum space were a finite resource, when they clearly aren't. finally, this is not relevant to the creation of a fitness subforum, but it does demonstrate poor administrative thinking: Quote:
"Post offensive remarks toward other site users; - Post private information regarding other users without their consent; - Circumvent word filters; - Bait staff or other users; deliberately try to test site rules; - Post pornographic or graphic content*; - Disrespect staff members / Uncivilly argue with staff members / Impersonate staff members" now, I'm guessing you'd read this into "disrespect", "uncivilly argue", or "offensive remarks", however the truth is the ultimate defense to libel -- what if you actually are incompetent? am I supposed to pussyfoot around and say that you're not making a mistake, or that you're not making a bad decision? this essentially prevents me from pointing out any flaw in staff decisionmaking. and what if it's not just bad, not just really bad, but very bad? you've made it impossible to communicate the severity of a staff mistake lest it be interpreted as "disrespect." therefore, since that would be unreasonable, I'm going to say I haven't said anything that didn't accurately communicate the actual severity of a staff mistake. |

![]() there's already a bunch of relatively unused boards that would be less popular than this but that doesn't mean this is a good idea. how does adding a fitness board improve the community here? that should be the first thing that needs to be talked about, not how popular or how well established the fitness thread is (I only skimmed the topic, maybe I'm selling this a little short).

It improves the community by potentially influencing those who find solace here at FFR, to work on their personal fitness.
Have you ever considered the possibility that people within a community that feel comfortable expressing themselves and their ideas, would feel more comfortable and even more motivated to work on their personal fitness as opposed to going to a separate community that focuses solely on these things where there is no attachment to the userbase? Also, arch is right about the above post halogen. Can't take tha heat |

![]() I have no issue with Arch demeaning me, lol -- I'm temporarily removing him from the forums for his general behavior over a long term (and believe me: what he received as a ban is quite a bit lighter than he should have). He's blasting me on the FFR Facebook Collective page on Facebook and I'm just joining along to have a laugh.
Seriously though, I've already stated that Reincarnate's point is very valid and probably holds enough merit to consider creation of this subforum on the site. There are others here also spearheading the idea of creating this in a very positive light, and the general tone in that thread has been generally welcoming. As said, if the activity isn't sustained, it could be removed. I don't have any issue with introducing this for a pilot session. |

I think having a spot for fitness is a good thing. I know that there have been a lot of forums/subforums that went inactive but I've seen a lot of interest in fitness and health related topics. |

![]() People should stop making tech threads in chit chat and make them in bits and bytes. The whole category of "Life & Arts" should probably be reworked and possibly condensed.

![]() * General Discussion
----Newbie ----Chit Chat --------Ask Me Anything --------Birthdays ----Tech Talk (renamed bits and bytes) ----Media ----Critical Thinking ----Sports and Fitness? * Flash Flash Revolution ----General Talk --------Song Permission ----Bugreport ----Suggestions ----Tournaments ----Brag Board * Gaming ----General Video Games ----Music Games ----Stepmania ----Forum Games * The Arts ----32-bit RGB (Should probably be renamed to better reflect its purpose) ----Musician’s Jungle Gym ----Literature ----The Werewolf Game Also the title of forums and subforums don't need to have the words forum and subforum in them. Just by being where they are implies what they are. Like a subforum in the ffr category doesn't need to be doubly labeled FFR General chat. At least this is what makes the most sense to me for how to organize a forum. Another point worth mentioning is pruning outdated stickies. Last edited by Izzy; 06-3-2014 at 02:10 PM.. |

This was actually done a while ago, but some of them need to stay because they contain important parameters in regards to something on FFR. Half of the stickies were removed, but others needed further discussion.

![]() Above all the drama that this has seemed to cause, I'm just glad to see some some consideration for the subforum.
