Re: 6th Official FFR Tournament - Final Round has started!
Or you could make better use of the 13 difficulty scale instead of having files like Rave7 where there's a heated 12/13 argument and the scoreboard does not compare to other 12s (top 3 scores on Rave7 could be compared to Revolutionary Etude, but then after that it basically goes down the shitter when you look at the rest of the scoreboard)

Re: 6th Official FFR Tournament - Final Round has started!
I think we need to start pushing more stuff into the 13 area rather it just be sitting there for a whole 2 files to use. I've mentioned we should bump some stuff up, but it never went anywhere. Maybe I'll try again.

Re: 6th Official FFR Tournament - Final Round has started!
This is not intended to be rude or anything, so please don't take it that way:
Arguments in ITG have happened all the time when a new area of difficulty has appeared. For example, when Aoreo's chart for Died In Your Arms Tonight came out, Mad Matt fell into low health and barely passed, something that's very uncommon for a person of his skill level. He proposed the file be rated a 19. Out of nowhere, a player named Calvin went on to pass it as well. In a game where lifebar is relevant, passing means a lot in terms of difficulty. They were fighting in a grey area and no one agreed with the rating. Mad Matt then proceeded to get a 95 on it and killed off the 19 argument. What I'm trying to get at is, players who aren't the most capable of handling a file of this difficulty shouldn't be trying to get the difficulty changed, especially when all of the players advocating the 13 difficulty are those who have always been considered top players (AlexD, samurai7694, Dossar, myself, leonid). There will undoubtedly be more people who will argue this. Those who are the most capable should be the ones to determine where a file should go in a grey area. |

Re: 6th Official FFR Tournament - Final Round has started!
Still find Rave7 harder than Metro. Just not visualizing it being a 12.

I'm on the same boat with Rave7 being harder than Metro as well.
Metro is definitely the borderline 12/13, because aside from a few bursts, it's a very simple file. |

Re: 6th Official FFR Tournament - Final Round has started!
I'd actually argue against AJ on this one. Having the top players advocate difficulty in the ITG community works great because the best songs are really only playable (=passable) by the best players. But on FFR every file is playable by everyone, which means that a file that is significantly harder than a typical high 12, to most people, should be pushed up in difficulty. I know we have some players here with so much speed that speed considerations become almost irrelevant, but placing difficulty based on those top players would mean that difficulties are only really relevant to them. To anyone else who doesn't have that level of physical ability - that's 99% of players - the difficulties won't make sense. I'd rather have difficulty rankings that most people can accept, rather than having ratings that feel weird to everyone but the speediest players in the world.
IMO, the best players to determine whether something should be pushed up to the 13 difficulty are people who have the physical speed to handle 12s, but can't hit 13s - those people can determine how much speed a file actually requires to play, rather than just determining how hard of a time they have trying not to dump goods on it. I think I fall somewhere in that group, and I think properly hitting Rave7 requires more speed than any 12 should. Feel free to move this post into the song discussion/ingame song thread.
