Sometimes I wonder if judges are just psyching themselves into believing they're not being harsh enough, as opposed to a greater number of files being worse. So far, a good majority of the files I've looked through already have been really cool, and I'm not afraid to say it. There's nothing wrong with "appearing lenient" - it's all about being honest with the scores.

Then again, the low scores might be an effect of one being jaded by seeing so many similar files. As people do new things, it's harder to find more originality.

Bump again as a reminder to check that you're submitting files correctly. Someone has just submitted a file that includes nothing but a .dwi file. Not even a folder.

The section I'm judging has some really good song choice, I'm actually looking forward to playing the majority of the files.

Except renard. Fuck him.

Not sure how relevant this is to most of you, but when judging on TS I always thought I was being too mean point wise. Most charts I thought where acceptable got like 6.7 averages (due to the way TS judging worked due to averaging three things together) (This also means they just barely got accepted from me that is) and that was hard to do, because in my head it's like "this file is acceptable, but I don't feel anything about it is that great or memorable so it's just average" but then I'd see other judges give it like a 7 - 9 or something. Always felt weird to me. Then the one time I actually handed out an amazing score it got downed a bit by the others. lol

I don't think you're really one to talk about judging files.

I don't think you actually know anything about me actually judging versus that colorful commentary I am known for. Even then I think you're missing the point.

Point being I was pretty psyched into being not lenient enough due to my own views of stepfiles.

But I would say it might be a bad comparison to be honest, the amount of time spent is not comparable.

yeah I don't know much about you judging, considering I only have one file in TS and that was judged relatively early in the site's life

my point was that not many people truly respect your views on judging simfiles, point blank

It's not really relevant if you respect my abilities or not. I was just saying that as someone who has judged files before my mindset was backwards from what Bmah was thinking about. I felt I was more lenient than I should have been. Just an outside view is all.
