I could see the Kong version essentially letting you play as a guest, with a little notice telling you to come to the official website to create an account and track your level ranks/progress, earn tokens, compete in tournaments etc... But I'm not really on board with this idea.

But seriously, being blunt FFR is a piece of shit compared to it's competitors. It lags like fucking crazy, the website looks 10 years out of date, the features are pretty crap for the most part, the majority of the music is too but hey that's due to legal stuffs. It really just need some money spent on it to bring it at least into this decade... I know what i'm saying seems douchy but it's true, i like this website and the game just wish it wasn't so bad, only thing keeping me from osu!mania is Japanese people..

Let us donate, hire a developer/team get shit done without the stupid circle jerk bureaucracy that keeps happening here.

wouldnt be able to donate since i have no money or job (still in highschool, focusing on that... please dont judge), but i feel that's a great idea maybe, just maybe, i'd be able to find like $10 somewhere to give to ffr.

lol, more users would be great. This site is really hard to find if you don't know what you're looking for. I've played o2jam for years and DDR and SM, but I've never heard of FFR until a watched a random video by stepmaniafreak, then later I saw some league of legends streamer play FFR and I made an account. This site and game could really use some better advertisement so I don't think expanding the community would be a bad idea.

Honestly, the harsh reality in terms of having FFR relevant is that people would need to move over to SM since that's the more up to date version of 4 key goodness.

Never going to happen, I feel like majority of FFR peeps, myself included, enjoy the limited gameplay mechanics FFR offers. Not because we've been here for a long time... okay maybe it's some of that, but it's because FFR doesn't have any extra features that SM offers.

It's pretty much bare-bone. No holds, no BPM changes, no freezes, no mines.

But it's because of it being bare-bones is where FFR is fun. At least I think so anyways.

Other than that though, totally agree that the website should have a face-lift, which is what I think Velocity was doing and some other peeps? Hopefully that's still a thing.

Also, it's laggy because Flash pretty much sucks on Windows machines or something to that extent. Try Flash 9 standalone and or I think even the browser, haha.

the idea of ppl playing it off-site isn't really going to affect people who are already on the site or would've found it through other means, but there's so many people who would play it but haven't heard of it

My opinion...

You don't know how FFR works at all.

You can't just "spend money" on FFR to acquire music, because then you are breaking terms with every artist that gave permission to their music under the contingency that their music was present on a not-for-profit site. A simple assessment of how much music would have to be taken down in the process will reveal that this method doesn't work at all. Just because osu! gets away with infringing copyrights because their user community is highly irresponsible and doesn't care about the music they upload doesn't mean that FFR should do the same thing.

I also don't understand where certain users get off by saying that the development team has done nothing; a new game engine has been added to the game and it is very regularly used by the community now. Don't assume that I am talking about the active community either: a brief glance at the recent gameplays on the front page will indicate an overwhelming majority of users who use the newest engine that FFR has, which presents the capability of running at higher framerates, increased song speeds, and more precise offsetting.

Claiming that there's some sort of circlejerk between the development team is also largely incorrect, given that a huge majority of updates to the game engines have been done at user request in threads.

You are allowed to have an opinion, but it should at least be a valid one.
