![]() Hmm. A thread where we discuss the Internet. It's inevitable.

"The Internet is a global system of interconnected computer networks that interchange data by packet switching using the standardized Internet Protocol Suite (TCP/IP). It is a "network of networks" that consists of millions of private and public, academic, business, and government networks of local to global scope that are linked by copper wires, fiber-optic cables, wireless connections, and other technologies." You cannot have an Internet. Your friend doesn't have an Internet. Your Internet isn't faster or slower than anyone else's, because you don't have an Internet. The Internet is not a tangible thing. You cannot hold the Internet. It's a proper noun. You all mean to say "Internet connection". Except uber. He means "Internet Service Provider". You will notice that in case A, it is a connection to the Internet. In case B, it is a service being provided to connect to the Internet. In neither of these cases can 'the global system of interconnected computer networks that interchange data by packet switching using the standardized Internet Protocol Suite' be substituted. Yeah I hate you (nice speeds). No seriously looking at this thread I realize I have very slow internet. Never even really noticed it before. Also Squeek dude how many times have you posted that same you cannot have an internet thing.

![]() How many times have people ignored me?
If people learned to get it right, I wouldn't have to do it. And just so I'm not offtopic: Download Speed: 9732 kbps (1216.5 KB/sec transfer rate) Upload Speed: 3608 kbps (451 KB/sec transfer rate) Could've sworn my connection was 5mbps. I didn't get an e-mail from my ISP saying that my connection was made any faster. Guess they just felt like giving me more for no extra cost. Last edited by Squeek; 09-1-2008 at 05:36 AM.. |

![]() Download Speed: 10673 kbps (1334.1 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: 926 kbps (115.7 KB/sec transfer rate) Really sucks when you're trying to share anime, but oh well. Also, keep in mind, it disconnects every ~30 minutes. That's wireless for you. EDIT: I'm on a so-called 10mbit-down/1.5mbit-up connection which is split through one or two wireless devices in our house (we have four computers lol). ISP is Century Telecommunications.

Sigbritt will now be able to enjoy 1,500 high definition HDTV channels simultaneously. Or, if there is nothing worth watching there, she will be able to download a full high definition DVD in just two seconds.
