Re: The Speedrunning Thread
Got a really good improvement on a 100 egg speedrun in Spyro 3: YotD.
http://www.twitch.tv/alexdest/c/3705480 Still got a good amount of time to make up though.

SRL isn't the be-all end-all to speedrunning streams, and actually its a little unfortunate that anyone who wants their speedrun stream to eventually get recognized has to do an arbitrary number of "races" first. I kind of wonder if they'll ever get around to improving the site like they promised by adding new ways to get listed and that whole leaderboard thing... |

Re: The Speedrunning Thread
but races are simply no reset runs and what do you mean it's irritating to set up that doesn't make any sense set up is nonexistent lol. .enter .ready .done

Re: The Speedrunning Thread
Improved my THPS any% WR tonight. Almost went to bed before this. Almost. Gonna try and get sub 5 during reading week.
Youtube link has been glitching out, sometimes showing no video. Oh well. Last edited by remedy1502; 02-12-2014 at 02:27 AM.. |

Re: The Speedrunning Thread
Alright, I'll have to check that thread more often then!
I agree it's a silly mentality to solely use SRL for catching speedruns but other than following a shit-ton of streamers and getting notifications out my ass, I really don't know any alternatives for being informed on a general level for who is streaming. |

Re: The Speedrunning Thread
I just end up following people and check my follow page on twitch. First result that shows up when I type in the letter t into my address bar.
Edit: Forgot about the notifications thing since I used a throwaway email address for my twitch account lol. |

You can use this site, this list polls from all of twitch from people with certain terms in their broadcast title. The terms are: "speedrun" "speed run" "any attempt" (Twitch's API ignores percent signs, even when encoded) "wr attempt" "100 attempt" "pb attempt" " rta" Its a cool site, though a bit of an eyesore. |

Re: The Speedrunning Thread
FINALLY got a working SNES controller so I'm getting back to Super Metroid. My current goal is to finish a 100% run. The farthest I've gotten is beating Phantoon, so I still have quite a ways to go (and that's with lots of save states to retry a lot of the difficult tricks).
The Kraid quick kill is the one trick that keeps screwing me over where I have to keep save stating until I get it I just can't figure out the timing to get it consistently. Anyone on here run Super Metroid that has any tips for making it more consistent? How do you know when to start the first jump? I just randomly guess until I happen to get it right since I can't figure out any visual or sound cues for it.

Re: The Speedrunning Thread
I feel like this one is post-worthy: sub-20 (in-game time) on Challenge mode Intense difficulty.
EDIT: Started to move on to another game. I wonder if there are any Tetris fans on FFR?

Re: The Speedrunning Thread
Recently got 2:16:14 in a Spyro the Dragon 120% run, which is pretty decent I think.

Re: The Speedrunning Thread
Never mind about all the Kraid stuff. Drilled the crap out of him and mostly got it figured out now :P Slowly working my way to actually completing a run but there are still so many difficult tricks to learn...fun times!

also protip shenjoku you probably shouldn't drill anything if you don't have the route down. Best to complete the game first and go from there. Playing through the game is great as you naturally get better at movement which is most important, drilling specific tricks isn't important and ultimately become easier later on anyway.
