Hopefully the batch will be open long enough for me to finish and send one more file. It seems to be going well and I really hope to finish it in timeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

I promis I will send them when I get time to do them right. I don't want to release files that aren't the best they could be.

I found some finished files to send at least:

Beginning of War (S.S.H.) - short novelty file, likely gonna be rejected for length even though it's a cool file
Bowser the Shredder (GS-Screamer) - file from 2008, still surprisingly fun
C-Jam Blues (Shnabubula) - this game needs more classic jazz, all hail the Duke Ellington
DATA DRAIN (DJ Sharpnel) - I remember this had kinda gay patterns at the end that I was maybe going to fix but oh well, yolo
Rising Blue Lightning (S.S.H.) - y'all be hatin' on my SSH files but fuck the police this file is fun as hell

Honestly not my best showing but it's some fun files, maybe they will get in maybe they won't. All my ~good artfiles~ are either not on my laptop or like 90% finished and I don't have time to finalize them.

Kinda fuccen amazing.
Since my great grandfather had 4 wives (simultaneously mind you), I have nearly 30 great aunts and uncles. Most of them are in Hong Kong for #7's birthday. My extended family is HUGE, so big that most people just go by number instead of name. Since my grandmother is #3, I introduce myself as "#3's second grandson" instead of by name haha
It's been a lot of fun to meet all the people who I have only heard of in stories (although some of them are kinda crazy, there's been some made-for-TV-level drama with some old family feuds coming to surface lol)
Overall the company is fun and the food is amazing. Since we keep going to fancy restaurants, there's a lot of expensive stuff like abalone and shark's fin soup. I also order the "char siu" pork at any opportunity I have, it's downright amazing...

Prob because people submitting files stick to the more overused artist like Sharpnel, VSnares, SSH, Renard, Term11, etc and can throw up files for them real easily, or lack a wider range taste in music and resort to the same boring artists. Now Im not calling them boring in the sense they are bad, I like some of the artists I listed above, but when a majority of the charts submitted/released these days are from these artists, it gets boring and isnt unique. Dont know if its because people dont want to step outside their comfort zone and step something that may require some extra syncing, or more detailed stepping because of the song, but these over used artists are getting pretty bland. I can already tell this batch isnt going to be that exciting just based off the artists people are listing for their submissions. Find it funny out of the wall of permissions we have people continue to step the same shit (sharpnel, vsnares, renard, ssh, etc). Would be nice to see a better mix up for once. Hell, would be neat to see a batch where there is a set song list of like 200 songs with unused artists, barely used artists, multiple genres and you have to choose from hat list in order to submit a chart. Can see where people would be against this, but idk, I would personally like to see a better song choices being released each week.

^ l0l i'm prob. gonna step xkore if anything at all for this batch #original #newgrounds #hashtags

ps its easy to step, most people have a variety of songs from those artists listed above or know where to find them and usually the files are received well.
i'd personally be ALL for another unstepped artist batch.

I'd be all over this shit especially if there was also a "no BMS of Fighters/Bemani artist" rule. Bemani songs all have the same style and it annoys me greatly :/

The only reason I'm sending more Sharpnel and SSH this batch is because that's all I have lying around. Believe me I'd send more interesting stuff if I had it finished on my laptop haha
(I really really want to send my Colony 5 file but it's at home fuuuuuuuuu)

If possible I'll set down and step a Shnabubula epic sometime. Love that man and his works. (not necessarily an artist that hasnt been stepped, but I feel has been under-appreciated in his works, for a long time now.)

You're telling me, I got permissions for some of the biggest UK Hardcore / freeform hardcore labels and artists as well as some j-core labels (with very diverse music, from chiptune to breakcore) and nobody seems to step any of it except for wayward vagabond and me, and megamon88 too recently with Mozart on Crack lol.

Truth be told, I had no idea we had permission from them. I know its perhaps in the blanket permissions thread, but I mean I guess from what I have seen it's just not known that well? Not sure if i'm alone here ~ But I kinda wish I would have stepped some of these other guys now.

amazing list!.. and yes I agree FFR needs more jazz I would have loved to see your Mondo Brutale file being in game, but that's just me who demands more hard charts. Damn it, I want to see 300+ bpm streams that don't consists of simple roll patterns ("Almost There" and "do i smile?" doesn't count, too easy anyway) Also, I'm hoping all is well on your trip! I can't even imagine the amount of time it takes to fly over there by plane from the US.

Where's kommisar with his Apocynthion Drive file?

Oh yeah, I might as well ask this since I'm kind of unsure.

When the limit is reached, the batch doesn't close, right? Just that the files after the 125 limit will be judged at a much later time?

That is correct. The judges will review the 120 files already received, so any that are submitted after that must wait. That means though you CAN still submit files at any time then.

So in that case, lets say 12 files are overflow and go into the next batch. Does that mean the initial start of the next batch will be -12? So instead of 120 for the next one only 108 will be accepted?

There won't be such a thing as overflow because any files past the first 120 we receive will be in standing for the next batch of files to be reviewed at a later date.

Alright, sweet. Thanks for clarifying.

I'm also assuming that the way judging is handled is not any different from before. With that being there's a deadline for them to have ratings done and so forth.

Or is that different too I wonder?

For now, the time for judging remains the same. It's usually about a week to pack everything up to send to the judges, and three weeks for the judges to review. In the future, we're hoping to speed the process up a bit (most judges actually review within a week but do so at the very end of their deadline) but at the same time we don't want to burn out the judges.

hey guess what though ............

there has been 2 sharpnel songs released in the past 2 years
2 venetian snares songs released in the past 3 years
4 terminal 11 songs in the past 2 years
and not a single renard song this year

i just checked out the songlist for ffr and it seems pretty diverse
idk man, not many people submit sharpnel & vsnares & terminal 11 and shit like that these days so i dont get what the problem is
