Late scores will be accepted, with a deduction of a lot of the normal skill points that you'd actually get. You'll receive less than the lowest person in that class. Re: The RPG Tournament
wtf is with all these fucking 50s, seriously. i know its the end of the tournament and all but still, unless we're going for int or luck D1 is screwed. it would be better if the difficulties were more evened out (this round is better than the last) I'd be pretty fine with it if this were a division based elimination tournament, but its not. i honestly expected the last song to be the highest difficulty. i mean we haven't even had a single 40 yet (that i can remember). i understand the idea of hard songs and everything but its still stupid.

Haruka 30
Gruntilda's Lair 24 Still Blastin [Light] 16 Serenade of Storms 19 Clockwork Gearman 41 Pembroke Welsh Corgi 22 Gameboy Rave! 32 uh also, if i may add, red blaster, someone in D1, is holding the top spot for total stat because of the choices that he made. Like is stated in the OP, this tourney is much more about the choices you make. Another example is TC_Halogen going STR on a round where everyone had really hard songs. most everyone else, not thinking of making smart choices, picked int and luk, giving him a 702 boost to strength.

Re: The RPG Tournament
101 Kittens..ouch that's a toughy.
I was close though with my guess! Oh my god. Halogen has 900 str and 600 luk? We're all done for Also how did Autotelic get more int than me? I should've been closer to average seeing as there wasn't a score update after mine.

(Not flaming at halogen btw) He was obviously better at his song than everyone else was, it wasnt about making a smart choice, it was about knowing everyone else is struggling and obviously wouldnt pick str or dex. |

First off, people likely did poorly on System Doctor because they simply refused to deal with the file. Not for nothing (and I've expressed my thoughts about this before), but while it's a technically accurate file, it is in my opinion (and others as well) one of the worst files in-game with regards to playability -- the only reason why the file is rated a 93 is because of the last 200 notes, and nothing else. All of the higher level players hate it, and almost all of them will opt out of playing it unless they absolutely have to. Secondly: the point about me getting 702 STR on a song because I had the skill is just as easily applicable to me not picking a given skill due to the song being hard. The fact of the matter is that players who wanted to separate themselves could have done so by picking an unorthodox choice on easier level files and taking risks on files that were a bit out of their range. The reason why I picked STR on System Doctor was not simply because "I felt like I could do the song and no one else could", it was because all of my other point gains were going to be rather minimal and I felt like I needed to do something absolutely drastic to turn the tables on my stat choices. Finally: The other reason I picked STR -- I didn't just assess my division. Remember that all divisions are used for calculations of stats; when I saw the difficulties of the songs in other divisions compared to the skill level of the players, I had a feeling a lot of people were not going to be willing to take a large risk. If you take a look at R5, you'll also see that one other person picked STR (minhtam), and they picked that stat class with over 700 goods raw on their song. Their risk paid off given what the song choice was and what their point yield would have been had they picked any other stat class; it was just unfortunate that he wasn't the only one thinking that way. My score was complete dog shit, but as I was the only one pick INT that round it paid off regardless.

Re: The RPG Tournament
I think the other thing that bothers me about the comment is how I should have been D7 on my own. I absolutely hate being so largely separated because of my skill, and I'd really like to ask: what exactly is putting me in a division on my own going to accomplish? the RNG would have likely given an easier song than System Doctor in that case given that SD is pretty high up in the first place.

and seriously, cedolad has the 4th highest total stat because of one round of picking int, even though he didn't submit for the last 2 rounds, and had really horrid stat gains otherwise. In this tournament, there's so much strategy that you can apply. You could pick your stat late in the round in order to gauge the general spread of stats that people post in the thread, or you could soley pm your stat and scores so that other people can't tell what you're picking, or you could look at the current stat spread and try to see what each player is most likely to pick based on what stats they're lacking and all that. there's so much you could be doing instead of complaining right now. round 10, like i've planned from the start, i'll give everyone a range of difficulties, and allow everyone to pick a song in that difficulty range. It'll be your chance to potentially gain a lot of what you need, because you'll very easily be able to gain the score that you want to gain. However, it's going to be even more about the choices you make.

Re: The RPG Tournament
My only gripe with this tournament strategy-wise is that the optimal strategy usually involves submitting stat choices and/or scores as late as possible (which is further aggravated by delayed rounds) and that the extra info you get from the last int evolution is a bit too good (you know for a fact who submitted int and you have a good guess of who submitted luck with bad scores).

Re: The RPG Tournament
that's basically why there were 10 rounds, to really account for strategy.
i think int probably has the most diminishing returns in terms of fighting int he final bracket, which was realized by almost everyone i think, seeing the spread of stat choices from the first round, but with the most benefits in selecting your stat
