Re: FFR 7th Official Tournament Songs Discussion: Round 6
My chart is not the one I intended to send, fyi. The one on FFR now is slightly easier actually.

~reviewz~
Dear bmah, sometimes, I really get the urge to jump through my monitor and strangle you for your awkward and unorthodox pattern choices in some of your files. This one tops the cake as well. Rock Rock Rock is aids, and I hardly found it enjoyable. Don't get me wrong, song's alright, chart/structure is good, but just.... no. Ily and everything, but no. Extratone Pirates was amazing. Chart structure and pattern choices seem to be well thought out and are very finger friendly despite how abrasive it feels when playing. It's also good how you strayed away from using straight rolls and mixed up with 4312 and the sort. Excellent file overall. (I'm assuming this was submitting in the internal?) WHO GIVES A F***. Uh, I sure as hell don't 'cause this file is pretty decent. Nothing really wrong with it. Mostly straightforward despite a couple of pitch relevancy issues. Cool stuff. Need You has a terrible layering scheme. Wasn't too fond of the hands, bunch of 8th notes repeating in the same column that go to literally nothing in the music, etc. etc. Cool xKore song, but the chart is just over layered, tacky and it takes a while before it kicks up in difficulty. A bit of a snooze fest. CQ Boss, hi19, so good. Streams are definitely fun, and overall this file is just really outstanding. Gonna be a toughie for D3, but nothing too bad. Great stuff. Spaceman's got some weird layering going on towards the end, and it feels pretty out of place. Despite this, the rest of the chart is well made and makes sense. Nothing spectacular or memorable, but definitely a goodie. |

Re: FFR 7th Official Tournament Songs Discussion: Round 6
There is literally no section of Spaceman that is easier than any section of any 75 in the game. Its rating is silly.
D3's song and chart are sick. Easily the best this round with no one else close. BMAH's song is especially bad. I was a fan in his WAIWAI days, but this thing is an aircraft carrier wreck. This is a perfect case of appropriate stepping being the worst thing you can do. The number of minijacks compounded by FFR's poor conversion in general = rip. This chart is Big Blue syndrome. It doesn't HAVE it, it IS it. It's like if someone took every worst part of Big Blue (one of the worst files in the game) and made a whole song out of it, and then made it play like SSSG. It's worse than Flesvelka. It almost bothers me more than Ripoff, except Rock Rock Rock is actually music. Extratone ended up being better than I thought it would going in, but (and I don't usually say things like this) anyone who can play the ending probably really needs to go outside more.

Rock Rock Rock is an absolute mess. I'm almost positive that it's broken, because I get absolutely random misses on the minijacks.

Re: FFR 7th Official Tournament Songs Discussion: Round 6
D5: Extremely long split 4231 16th roll. One-handed (12)2 minijack transitions everywhere. Hidden 8th anchors in the jump patterns that go into a minijack at the end. Difficulty spike ending. I am NOT a fan of this, it's everything that bothers me about bmah charts with none of the redeeming features. (Unlike FLOWER GARDEN which was a nice chart outside of the song, this file is just not fun for me. At all.)
D6: lol you managed to make this song fun dat JS ending

Re: FFR 7th Official Tournament Songs Discussion: Round 6
Need You: This file felt pretty awkward for me to play, but it was a decent song.
WHO GIVES A F***: This was a fun file that I found I could do the patterns pretty well on. Addict: This is a really good file. It will be well worth the unlock once it becomes a token. CQ Boss: This was an alright file, nothing special really. Spaceman: Interesting song and interesting file, that's all. Rock Rock Rock (t+pazolite Remix): I loved this file. I'll be playing this many times over for sure. Extratone Pirates (Drunk Optimus Remix): Just like the D5 song, I loved this and I am going to be playing this one a lot. |

Re: FFR 7th Official Tournament Songs Discussion: Round 6
Here are my thoughts on the recent releases:
Need You (Elite Ninja) - Very nice job making this file. I like playing the file just as much as your other ones. Those hands like to trick me so nice job on stopping my AAA/FC right there. Even though the song is in a genre I don't like to listen to the chart made it bareable and for that thank you. WHO GIVES A F*** (Nois-or-e) - I like the color scheme in this chart since it makes it a bit more intresting to play. I honestly feel like this file shouldn't be rated a 56 because compared to other 56s this file is too easy. I feel like it should be a 54. The song is fun to listen to as well. Great job on the file Jae! CQ Boss (Hi19Hi19) - Oh man. D3 is going to have fun with this one. 32nd streams with a few rolls will trip them up for sure. I like the streams since they keep my attention. There are a few parts that like make me miss, but hey it's not supposed to be easy right? Awesome job on this Hi19! Spaceman (Kommisar) - Kommi, every time I play one your files whether it's on FFR or SM I can't help but notice something unique about them. This song sounds great and the chart is amazing. This chart was pretty damn fun to play and I'll happily play it again and again. Please keep making more files like this! ^_^ Rock Rock Rock (t+pazolite Remix) (Bmah) - Woah. Bmah stepping t+pazolite? This is a change (Well at least for me it is.). I'm honestly glad that I practiced mini-jacks and jacks on SM for the past few days so that I can appreciate them a bit more. Those mini-jacks keeps my intrest alive in this file. This FGO will be part of my mini-jack practice group from now on. haha Great job on this Brent! Extratone Pirates (Drunk Optimus Remix) (Wayward Vagabond) - I saw the 88 rating and I knew I was in for some hard pain and I was right. This is a very difficult chart that tests my speed quite a bit. I didn't enjoy the JS at the end as much as I'd like becuase I sightread all the tournament songs 15 minutes after I woke up. Once I wake up and become for alert then I'll definitely give this file another go. Thank you for stepping another song to add to FFR's hard charts collection. Nicely done file as well. Addict (Wayward Vagabond) - This file is really fun to play. I mean don't get me wrong the remix has its moments as well, but this one tops it in my book. I really liked the rolls and everything flowed nicely which is a plus. I can't wait to get the token for the remix so that I'll have both songs to play on the engine. Keep it up! |

Re: FFR 7th Official Tournament Songs Discussion: Round 6
Need You (D1): Okay, this file gives a little taste of what Flamingo was like in Round 4. Again, same deal with that stepfile, heavy layering to go with the percussion.
WHO GIVES A F*** (D2): I found this fun when I first judged it but the 192nd accents really throws off the appeal of the stepfile. It's not bad, has some slight spiky sections but it'd be interesting to see what the cutoff is. CQ Boss (D3): Why don't you step more like this? You're really showing FFR some amazing files hi19. Everything about this chart has excellent flow and the difficulty keeps balanced. It's very streamish so this would be an intriguing round for D3. Spaceman (D4): I still love this file to death on Stepmania, really nice to see it's in FFR now. Fast broken jumpstream again but this time it's throughout the majority of the chart. Wonder how well D4 will do for this. Rock Rock Rock (t+pazolite Remix) (D5): In my opinion, this is your best chart for FFR yet, bmah. As always your technical nature shows well in this chart, 3/4ths into the chart begins its progressive state which was very well done. Will definitely be playing this a lot. As for D5, this will definitely be interesting to watch, this is a very heavy chart for the division. Extratone Pirates (Drunk Optimus Remix) (D6): Carlos, please be the only one stepping anything speedcore because you do them extremely well. Everything was structured amazingly with anchor heavy patterns, especially the ending. Love this chart and will be playing through this a lot, despite having to AAA it first thing (when I get back home).

I work 7 to 9 hours a day, have a daughter, and will be going to school in the next three weeks. What was that about needing to go outside more?

Re: FFR 7th Official Tournament Songs Discussion: Round 6
Just a thought... when hosting an official tournament, I think it would be good to have a select batch of files dedicated to the tournament before hosting one.
I'm really glad that my file wasn't used for this round. It was poorly done ): Reviews for files coming up probably tomorrow. |

Nah j/k, for you, just focus on the first half of my post. Who should it be then? Someone who stays in all the time? I don't get how that would make sense.

Rock Rock Rock truly should not have been released if it's not the correct file.

Whoa, I just looked at your files, and there is a LOT of good stuff in that list in general, not just recently. Cette Annee is one of my favourites.

I agree, because RRR is a mess and Flesvelka is a great song albeit with a crappy chart.
