Honestly; This type of scoring system is awkward (if I've ever played enough Mario Kart). It can get messy with more than single digits.

I never really used a points system before or really seen it used around here, so I was kinda testing it out haha. I wanted to try it out because I felt that normal cumulative raw score tournies placed too much weight on later rounds since that's where most of the separation between scores are.

I see what you mean; that definitely makes more sense. So it was messy but not in comparison to the norm lol.

What I meant was; the people who are going to win are still going to win, but the people who can't AAA will then start having a point lead if they got in early against everyone else who can do just as well as them but scored worse earlier.

IE: I can't even get past 6 good atm on second song, but I AAA'd the first, I'm 13 points ahead now where as someone who went last and got 5 because they Blackflagged will still have a hard time to press for an advantage.

What I meant was; even a 5 point base isn't enough sometimes.

I went with Halogen's first suggestion, so situations like blackflagging when everyone else AAA's won't screw anyone over haha.

Also yeah, this system's not perfect, heh. if anyone has any suggestions for improvement then feel free to say so. I might not be able to implement it this tourney though since we're already a ways in and it would be a bit unfair.

Well at this point it was bound to happen once someone failed their first AAA in the first round; since they'll "probably" not be able to AAA the following songs. It's actually better this way if more fill the bottom that way people who black flag can stay up with the AAA group.

Maybe a point system based on scores (5 for AAA, 4 for 1good, etc), though it'd require a lot of thought to actually come up with a point system that's actually fair. (The main problem with the points in the last sentence is when no one can AAA the final song)

-Edit: On a different note; the game randomly cuts off mid note and I get a miss/boo, it's happening so frequently I can't even get through a full song before it happens once... I'll see if using a different computer works but... if this keeps up I'll have to stick with my 6 good score.

Here is an other suggestion for the score system in case of ties:
example:
There are 12 people in D2. Rank 1-11 would normally get a total amount of 12+11+...+3+2=77 points together.
Because they tied, everyone in rank 1-11 would get the same amount of points.
My suggestion is to give them 77/11 points, rounded down (=7 points).
Rank 12 would get 1 point, as planned.

so if 7 people tied AAA in a 12 person division, that'd make (12~6)=63/7=9 points each for the 5 (split however necessary).

In case there are no other ties:
the people who tied AAA would get 9 points each;
rank 12: 1 point;
rank 11: 2 points;
rank 10: 3 points;

2 SDG scores are not always the same, like a 2 goods score and a 4 goods score.
Let's pretend they are both 4 goods scores.
Scores (in red the calculations):
Rank 1-7: 9 points each (12+11+10+9+8+7+6)/7
Rank 8-9: 4 points each (5+4)/2 rounded down
Rank 10-11: 2 points each (3+2)/2 rounded down

That system might place too much weight on earlier rounds though. In D2 for example, isaiah would earn 1 point while everyone else would earn 7 although there is only a 1g difference between the scores.

Weird idea, but maybe score people by giving the top scorer 100% and the rest whatever percent their raw score is out of that.

Then that would give too much weight to later rounds because that's still where the most variation in scores are.

Like in the last round for example the best could be ~2g and the worst could be a mash FC that's ~50g equivalent. Even if the last place player were doing well all tourney, it could be something as simple as my picking a song that doesn't work to their strengths to destroy their total percentage.

edit: i say this one out of personal experience it happened to me before but it was in the second-to-last round ;~;

Last round was a bit extreme. If isaiah had raw score 5 (1 average on the song and quit), the ranking would be the same and he would get too many (12) points for posting a bad score (using the current system).
That's why I made a system that takes averages. It's something between the very first and the current system in.
