Your oppinion of Sony

Just wondering what your oppinion of Sony is at the moment. For the record, I hate them with an undying passion at the time being. Here is a few reasons why.
1: They had to recall thousands of laptop batteries because of a tiny flaw (they kinda exploded and all)
2: They secretly installed rootkit on your computer.
3: crappy optical drives that users had to void the warranty just to fix
4: Suing Lik Sang out of business for selling Japanese PSP's (which were not selling well to begin with) to European gamers.
oh yea, speaking of sales, the game to system ratio of sales says they are selling more PS3's than games (much more) basically implying most ppl are just buying it to resell it on eBay at a higher price.

Yea, I hate Sony with a passion since that last one, any other oppinions

I don't like their business practices, but I enjoy their gaming consoles.

PS2 was the best video gaming thing to happen to me.

you forgot to mention that sony copied nintendo, for example, look at their controller, got it straight from the SNES layout. But i love some of their games, like Twisted Metal, definitely, my favorite was 3 and then black

It could be very easily argued that all controllers are copied from all other controllers because they "look alike". It just can't be proven because video game controllers are all meant for very similar purposes and based off an original design, no matter what company makes them. Take computers for example. Just because they are all rectangular prisms with very similar sizes, and have buttons in the same place, doesn't mean the idea is stolen from another computer-making company just because they released their computer first.

nahhh, there was a similar thread like this at VGDC Forums and i was trying to get those posts here, i just couldn't explain fully, the two used to work together for a disc playing system until nintendo dumped them off for another company, was this the reason why sony got into videogame design?

I hate Sony with a passion. I am not even a fan of their consoles. I am a fan of many of the games for their consoles, but the systems themselves are largely pieces of crap.

And Sony doesn't design ****, guys. Don't call them a video game designer. They got into the video game market by selling consoles that appealed to the largest market at the time, and because of that, they built up a large support from good third party developers. If Nintendo had gone to a disc-based format with the N64 instead of going with cartridges, I fully believe they'd still be on top.

One of the reasons they took back the exploding laptops was a safety issue.

I mean, would you really like to keep a laptop that exploded? Not only that, if they do explode, Sony would get sued and I know they wouldn't like that.

But the fact that the issue occured in the first place...i mean...they EXPLODED for gods sake! how big of a screw up do you have to make to have the worlds first widespread EXPLODING laptop battery problem.....

1. Computer technology sucks
2. Took the idea for motion sensor game controller tech from Nintendo.
3. Gran Turismo HD ( for the have to pay money for unlockables)
And any other reason to hate them as well.

Sony with its playstations 1 and 2 have more of a balanced and wide range of games than any of the other system. They may not have the best marketing strategies, but they still have a good lead on most of their equipment. Also, didnt microsoft make the xbox because they knew it would appeal to more gamers? So how is microsoft very different from sony in the first place?

BTW, learn to spell before you post a thread. Opinion doesnt have to p's.

I can say that every new version of Windows is buggy until a long time after its release. Even then, it is still buggy. Every comapany has some kind of problem so you can't just point fingers at Sony and say they suck because of it.

Nintendo and Microsoft consoles always seem to have a few nice games.

But the Sony consoles always manage to have a whole lot of them. For those who remember, the PS1 lasted even longer than the PS2 did, and the PS2 could play PS1 games, making it last even LONGER(than it would without it).

Also, it could play DVDs, a useful utility that everyone could use. It could hook up to the internet, unlike the Nintendo. It also had many great games rather than just a few, unlike the Xbox.

There's a difference between overlooking some faulty code and releasing a product that has the potential to KILL PEOPLE, or at the very least cause serious wounds and destroy said computer. That's kind of a big oversight. That'd be like including razorblades in the middle of Snickers bars.

Also, that IS why Microsoft entered the playing field. However, they did it with the intention of appealing to the GAMER. Sony entered the field with the PS1 using CD format more or less to appeal to third party developers, who at this point have more or less access to everything they could want as far as power of a particular system goes. Upping the stakes by leaping to Blu-Ray isn't going to be their boon this time. I hope it'll be their downfall, but it's ****ing Sony we're talking about here, so it's not like they're going away any time soon.

Sony's success has very little to do with they themselves. It's purely because they jumped in the video game market at an opportune time when Nintendo decided to stick with an out-moded, expensive, restrictive media type and in the process alienated their strongest supporters (like Square, for example.)

I'd say that Nintendo will be the first one to go out of any of them. Sony's my favorite, but I'll have to say it'd go second.

Microsoft, well...

One man in Microsoft could probably give a dollar to everyone on the world.

just get two Play Station 3s and you could've bought a used car, lawl trick some rich sap in buying them. Dunno who would fall for that, but there are a lot of gullible people.

On my wish list:
I'd get Wii first and then XBox360

at least xbox360 had more games to it by the time PS3 came out, but ehhh, i'd still rather get Wii. :3
