Song choppyness?
For some reason, some of the songs I play are choppy, even without a video background. I know it's the music, because even on the menu the FPS is lower. It's most prominent for me in Festival of Ghost 2 and Bag (Japan Mix). It's really annoying, because I can't read the arrows in them for nuts (and Festival of Ghost 2 is an AWESOME song).
Anyone else experienced this and know how to fix it? |

Um, first question; are you playing with a Cmod? Cause if you are then it's not BPM changes...if both the FPS and even the MUSIC are lagging, then your computer's probably just old. Try getting DWI instead? Not as good, but it should run a little more smoothly for you. hope that helped =)

Re: Song choppyness?
I get this too, but only on Festival of Ghost... There might be something with the song.

Re: Song choppyness?
You probably have programs running in the background that's slowing down your computer. Try doing an spyware scan to see if you can speed up your computer.

Re: Song choppyness?
Also, if you have thousands of songs, that might put pressure on your comp. Get rid of all the bad ones, like Moogy's.

Re: Song choppyness?
Valid reasons, I guess, but why would only one or two songs lower the FPS while everything else is perfectly fine?

Re: Song choppyness?
Graphics is my guess, that or the mp3 might be atrociously big. I've actually noticed a lower FPS in fog2 but it's not noticeable (still in the 150 range).

Re: Song choppyness?
I used to have this problem as well. Certain simfiles are lagging like hell
but it's only old sims (2004 and older) that are choppy for me. All other sims work just fine I think it has to do with the .sm file being made in an old version of stepmania, otherwise it's probably the .mp3 that is being weird |

Re: Song choppyness?
try deleting the .dwis but keep the .sm, go into the editor and save. If there are additional steps (like double or solo steps) delete those. No idea if it will work, but worthy a try I guess

Re: Song choppyness?
Play the mp3's in your favorite media player and check the quality. If it's low on the choppy songs, change the resample quality in sound options.
